Well, I finally did it.
I lifted my 40 with no front springs (literally I had an inch to spare before hitting the bump stops) and I am ditching the 31s.
If you have never wheeled a truck stock, I reccommend doing so one day. Its fun and a bit more challenging when deciding the right lines to take. However, if you decide to run a truck stock make sure to get spring plate protection, cut your front bumpers, sliders, and get a heavy-duty skid plate (like from IPOR). Also, getting a locker makes it more fun. Literally, running my truck stock was awesome. A Land Cruiser can really go almost anywhere with a stock setup.
Basically, this is why I am calling it the "Mega Lift Project". Going from nothing to something A LOT bigger.
I decided to go with a Hell Creek 4" spring lift. They are a good quality product and easy on the wallet. I know several guys with this setup and everyone has reccommended HC.
When I started the lift project, I found the the stock shackles and pins where toast, so I got some SOR 2-1/2" performance shackles for the front and back. They are a bit high and once the 35s are put on I doubt it will fit in the garage. If this is the case, I might go down to 1-1/2" shackles.
My spring plates were REALLY banged up and I spent hours banging them back straight just to get the bolts off. It sucked. I decided to go with spring plates with skid plates in the front.
Other than that, the kit had everything else I needed...well except new bushings for the frame mounts which I am planning to swap out. Also, I will need longer pins so I can properly shim my truck. I have the shims, but they won't work with the installed pins from HC.
Well, here you go. This is my truck with 31s. I will post pics with 35s when I get the chance.
I can't wait to wheel it!
