I did a search and couldn't find anything.

IBS -DBS Dual Battery System with Microprocessor - Sierra Expeditions

Sierra Expeditions posted this on facebook yesterday and I started looking at it and thought it looked pretty cool. I am pretty electrical inclined along with being thick headed as well . It looks like you could use this rather then a National Luna or Hellroaring set up.

Is anyone using this set up looks to be a little expensive at $380.00? But it looks to have a lot of different options and hookups?

Just thought I would get some thoughts as I would like to get a dual battey setup this spring and wanted to start collecting parts for everything. TIA!

I have nothing but good thing to say about this setup. I have it installed on one of my trucks for almost a year now

The install is very easy:banana: and the simplicity of the design makes it very reliable and also makes for a nice clean install
being able to control it from the cab and moniter battery status is a great feature not found in alot of setups

when I get home I will try and dig up some pics of the install off my other computer

I'm electrically challenged. Is the 200A rating a concern for winching? If so, could the solenoid be upgraded?

Good point, that is a question I would like to know as well?

Any other input or opinions on this... I know there are plenty of people on here that have opinions they love to share :D

We spoke to the engineer at Sema regarding that. It was our main concern as well. When the winch is connected to the main battery the majority of current is pulled from that battery plus it is supplemented with the alternator. The rest is then pulled through the relay from the 2nd battery. According to them they worked with Warn on this and never had issues.

However when installing this we always add the Relay Boost Module. If you don't, and your main battery goes dead, then you can nut jump yourself.

The wire diagram shows that the winch is ran off the main battery and not from the Aux battery. I do not think the 200amp relay plays a role.

Others please chime in..

from their webpage:

Normal operation separates the starting battery from the auxiliary battery to safely power electrical accessories when the vehicle isn't running. An override button links the batteries for high-load uses such as winching and is also used for self jump-starting.

looks pretty cool, the in-cab monitoring is a nice plus for the OCD among us.

here is where I mounted the controller if it helps
as for winching i run hydraulic so i cant comment on any high amp winching concerns

$380? that is not just a bit steep. that is ridiculous. t-max 250 amp kit is only $125 and so is the painless (non weatherproof) been running that for 6 years without issue.

I really like the look of that IBS setup but the price turned me off a bit.

I'm looking at going this way when the times comes to finish off the dual battery setup. Self jump, seems to have all the other features other than a battery monitor in the cab.

Would make a nice clean install as well.

Christo, how do you think this compares to a National Luna or a Hellroaring? Performance and price?

I have the IBS system, have had it installed since October. No issues while winching while running my mt45 and my norcold 60 and AUX lites.
It is pricey but it's a 100% complete kit. I talked to Wil @ Sierra Expeditions for awhile before buying it, his explanation of how this system worked in comparison to the others convinced me it was the best set up for me to purchase.
