Well, I have read a lot of threads about people having problems with sunroofs leaking and sometimes making it wet in the sill of the 3rd row sliding window. The problem I have is the second row passenger side seatbelt is getting wet down where it winds up. There is no visible water on the floor or around the wall coverings, is this the same problem as with the sill on the sliding window? Broken sunroof drain tubes?
Anyone have any ideas for fixing it as well?
Thanks

Barrypt5,

I recall someone else posted on their 2nd row seat belts being wet. If you don't get an answer then try a search. As I recall, there was a lower bolt that had some type of problem (poor sealing ?). Do you hear water sloshing in the rocker?

easy to pull the panel trims off and then you can see inside to your heart's content...

More than likely it's the quarter belt molding. It's the strip along the lower part of the sliding windows. Cheap and easy fix.:)

I don't have rear sliding windows, but I'll check it out thanks.

Is this it?

part no. 75670-60010 & 60020 ?

Left side: 75670-60020
Right side: 75660-60020

I'd pull the side panels and spray water along the bottom part of the windows first to verify that it's leaking in that area.:)

So I finally got around to pulling the rear interior panels today to have a loot at these "quarter moldings", and by the looks of things, I'm guessing I don't have any.
This vehicle was repainted at one point in it's previous life (used to be a fire engine red), so perhaps they were removed during the prep and never put back in?

This first batch of pics is from the (my rhd) drivers side:

In the first and third pic, you can see what appears to be water stains down in the well below the rear sub speaker. It is damp down in the well when I felt around down there with my hand.
I have no idea what the PO has down with hacking away some sheet metal in the 1st and 3rd pic (right below the rear and lowest speaker mounting bolt).
But where the seat belt mechanism mounts, there does not appear to be any water stains, yet the belt is damp when uncoiled.
I poured water down all 4 sunroof drains (I have some issues in the front, but that will be in another thread), and the rear ones drained fine.
This shot it the same side, trying to look up where the rear sunroof drain comes down into the cavity by the seat belt.

Pics from my left (passenger side), where I have the same issues with the wet 2nd row seat belts.
The last time I had the truck in getting some work done, I had the rear window vents re-done, as the cargo area carpet and jack were getting soaked. It seems to have worked, although the jack had a little bit of water on it (you can see the water stains down the side panel in the last shot.)
But just like the other side, there are no apparent water stains or any indication of a leak as to why the seat belt gets wet when recoiled on this side either. And no "quarter molding" that I can see either.

The moldings are outside and snap in below the rear windows. The foam gasket basically crumbles away allowing water in. Did you spray water along the lower part of the window?

LOL. Outside, well that explains why I didn't see them inside. I'll go give that a shot right now.

Okay, so hosed it down pretty good from various angles, and we have some drippage inside. So that hard plastic piece I have my finger on in the pic this infamous quarter molding?
I can slide it forward about a 1/4" or so, as indicated by the red paint in the other photo.
I also noticed a little bit of tiny rust bubbles about halfway along the bottom of the window seal as well.

So I am about to pull the trigger and order up some new OEM quarter belt moldings, and then I started thinking, always a dangerous thing.

As I do not have a rear side sliding windows, could I not simply remove these moldings, goop some silicone in there, and then re-install the old moldings?

Okay, so I popped off this infamous "quarter belt molding" and was going to seal it up with some silicone, but there is nothing there....

All this piece is a metal trim, there is nothing under it to seal, except perhaps for the 3 little plastic clips that mount it to the body.

The two attached pics show the molding removed, with a closeup of one clip and a bit 'o rust at the window seal.

I'm also wondering if my truck once server fire dept. duty in Japan with that shade of red.

There was no foam gasket, not even a faint remnant of one when I removed mine. But I fail to see what a gasket of any kind would do here? There does not seem to be anything to seal?
