Anyone do or see an A750F swapped into a 80 series cruiser?

I am sure that I want to build up a transmission for use behind a turbo'd 1FZ-FE

Why not start with a A750 as a core and get a lower first gear, a taller overdrive, close ratios and a bonus gear between them? Build it up while waiting for the original trans to start slipping.

4 spd 2.95 first
5 spd 3.52 first

Would be like having 4.67 gears instead of 4.11s

Going from 31's to 35" tires a calculator says requires a "4.629" ratio... kind of about perfect reduction of first gear going to a A750.. I do think one should go with 4.56 gears and the A750F. But if you cant bankroll gears, lockers, and the trans all at once the lower first gear on its own is good to have. The 4.56 gears combined with the lower first would be like having 5.07s in first on a 4spd. But way up in 5th it would be like having a .656 over drive since the 4.56s were about .06 to 1 shy of matching the tires.

4th gear of 4spd 0.753
5th gear of 5spd 0.716

May or not be worth it for me to get this to read,

Would be great if it could be done but the A750F is electronically controlled. Might be tough to get that to work properly.

Probably not.. Wiring schematics for 80 and 100 series and for parts Just a transmission ECU and harness from a 100 series..

Has seperate trans and engine ECUs like the 80 series do.

Here is an 80s trans ECU on slees 7 pin mod page.

I'm very interested in this....depending on what t-case options this gives.

Automatic Transmission; 5-speed electronically controlled with lock up torque converter the model designation is A750F.
The gear ratios are: 1st 3.520:1, 2nd 2.042:1, 3rd 1.436:1, 4th 1:1, 5th .716:1, reverse 3.244:1
Transfer Case;
The transfer case fitted to GXL, and RV models is full time 4WD and is known as a HF2A. NOTE: The Sahara transfer case has a viscous center diff.

So the case from your own 80 will be just fine.

That is because it has a fly by wire throttle not because the transmission needs an APPS.

I guess looking at stuff on a 100 series to control it on an 80 is not going to help. There were some Prados produced with the A750F are more 80 like.... Maybe they must have a different setup..

Nope they dont. Neither do runners the first rigs to get the transmission.. Fudge.

Oh and BTW

Upgraded Valve Body

Wholesale Automatic Transmissions

I wonder if they can make a full manual non electronic valve body?

Bringing an old thread back to life...any new developments since '08?

The simple way to wire this up is to include the whole harness from the donor vehicle, including the V-8 motor part of the harness.:grinpimp:

There are multiple threads on dropping in toy v-8's currently on this site.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'd have no interest in dropping in the V8 but do like the transmission. But, if I had to mess with the whole harness and ECU then it is no longer a "simple" task from what it appears :frown:

Not sure to bring this topic up again, but you all should check COMPUSHIFT and be done with it...if you want to go the difficult route, then get a donor vehicle...or buy a compushift II and done
