It actually was very easy to do, and the absolute best part is, I can change the A/C belt from the topside now with only a 9/16" wrench and a couple of minutes. No more laying under the truck and removing the splash guard.

Thanks for posting up the link Eric!

Here's the link to the forum where I will be posting more info soon!

That is a sweet setup!
I knew there had to be a better option than what was commercially available.
Time to go buy some more cutting wheels...

I have plans to in the future remount the PAIR valve, just didn't have time to currently finish it. Good luck with the build.

I think for the next write up I will have to detail the slider build up, it is just as unique...

Got this in a PM:

excellent job dude, very clean. I couldn't tell from the picture but how many of the bolt holes in the head did you end up utilizing for the bracket? Also, I like the idea of running it off of the air cond pulley, I assume you have a two groove pulley for the air cond? Hmm, that makes me wonder why I didn't do the same thing for my 80.... Maybe there was clearance issue? Can't recall exactly, I built mine few years ago!

Anyway, if you have any more pics of the actual bracket, I'd like to see if I can copy for another 80.

Thanks.

Ash

I actually have just one belt that runs from the crank, to the A/C compressor, then up to the York, and back to the crank. I deleted the tensioner under neath and use the York to now adjust the belt. It works great.

I can get more pics. I am going to post this question up in the thread, since it is a great question!

I used the four available bolt holes in the head. The two forward holes are 10mmx1.25 and the rear holes are 8mmx1.25 I believe.

Also, I will probably be uploading more pics and some video soon to the Planet4x4 thread, so keep yourself update there!

Yep - more & bigger pics please! I picked up a york this fall, and was going to go with the Slee mount - but now I'm reconsidering!

Minor hijack--I used to own Planet4x4.com and .net!

The slider build is also very interesting. There are no frame mounts. It mounts to the body mounts and the factory running board mounts. So essentially it became part of the body instead of part of the frame. I'll admit I was skeptical at first but it has been a couple years and they are holding up with some really hard hits. Lumpy has some good ideas because he is not set inside the "Cruiser Box". So he looks at other vehicles and applies ideas from them to the Cruisers. I think a lot of Cruiser folks just look at the first solution and then copy it or modify it and we don't look outside often enough.

The hits it has taken have been extremely abusive. Alicia is a crazy driver. They definitely got a workout on Rocker Knocker in Moab.

Thanks Eric for the compliments. Eric was extremely skeptical when I was building them. I think he watched and was waiting for them to break or damage something else. At the beginning of last year, he finally came around, even showing them off to a gentleman from PA I believe. If you can remove a running board, you can install a set of these. I will do a write up soon. I was reluctant to do one as I was hoping to be able to start building and selling these, but since I haven't got my business up and running, I will let the cat out of the bag.

Now back to the compressor build

Its not her driving, its your spotting thats the problem.

Crap lumpy, I havn't finished my sliders and now you give me a new project. I was convinced of your slider design after watching on Lost Trail. I copied your mounting idea but added my own twist, and they took a beating in Colorado.

HA!!! Sweet, I'd like to see some pics of your setup as well!

x2.

As cool as that OBA setup is, let's see some outside-the-box slider action.

Alright guys, I will try to get some pics up this weekend. I need to take them off to repaint anyways.

Any chance you would build another one of these brackets.......and sell it......to me?

Nice write up...something for me to think about...I would assume this set up with some other modifications can power ARB air lockers if needed?

I will take more pictures, but I wouldn't make another bracket because I am not sure it would fit every clutch application. There are a lot of different York clutch setups out there.

Also, you could run this for ARB's and the like, but I would still recommend a small electric compressor for trail use. Just easier to let a small compressor run with the ARB's, but I would make the York system a backup for it.

I ran with Jay this summer here in CO. His sliders did do a great job, except for the fact that they didn't have outriggers yet.:flipoff2: That one rock on Chinaman Gulch was great, huh Jay!?
Seriously, If I hadn't already gotten the MetalTech sliders, I might have to give this some thought.
