Ok guys heres the dealio. I put a new fuel filter on about 3 days ago, maybe 4. Its cloged already. Im thinking that there is major crap in the tank for it to be this bad. Possibly rust on the inside of the tank?? I dunno. Has anyone else had this problem and other then a new tank is there a fix? Maybe an aftermarket fuel filter that I could put on it and take apart to clean it out? Maybe see after a few more tanks of gas if it just runs its course?

my 60 sat for the last few years before I revived it. I went through about 5 filters in a month, I've been running the same one now for about a month. I think most of the sediment has passed through now.

might check and see if your tank recall has been done, I just called on mine it was done in 1992. you might be able to score a new tank for free.

There is a drain plug under the spare, you might try that. I've also blown air through the lines to clear them as well. I just removed the cap, and put around 10 psi through the filter line.

Yup called on that earlier today and mine was replaced in 2/93. I think im good to go there. looks like Ill give it a while and keep replaciong the filter and see if, like yours, i flush it all out.

Might want to try one of those glass filters with the replaceable elements...

I had the same thing happen to my 81, couldn't find a replacement at local parts stores. so i went to wal-mart and they sell a simple in line filter that is clear. I bought two and used both of them will my from SOR came in. also blow the lines out.

just my opinion

check the tank to clean it up and the line that goes from the tank to ware you pump in gas, you should also check the fule lines(metal rust form is the car has been stoped) and change the gas filters again

I just went through this, and tried the quick fix of just flushing the tank and a new filter. Ended up having to get another new filter, new fuel pump and completly tear down the carb and clean. I had to pull the gas tank out and clean it with muratic acid, which is awsome stuff, and only cost 6 bucks for a gallon at lowes. I say do yourself a favor, and take a day to pull the tank and throughly clean it. This way you will know that you have a clean tank and its one less thing to worry about.

If you are going to the trouble of pulling the tank to clean it I would have it lined also - boiled and lined at a tank/radiator shop. Blow out all your fuel lines, install maybe a dual (second) in-line filter, and check your carb too to see if junk made it that far.

Sounds like fun. Sounds like dropping it and having it cleaned and relined is the way to go. I'll have to wait till I can scrape up enough cheese. Lol
