Hello All,

I am going to be upgrading my headlights to some HID's. I found a thread on here that led me to the following. Wanted to run what I am thinking by some folks, the ones who know, to make sure it should work.

Going to get the IPF H4 Headlamps

Then get this HID setup:

Was going to go with the options of 55W, H4 Hi/Lo, and 6000k

And finally this wiring harness:

What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me.

Their HID setups are pretty good for the price. I've got a pair in my bike (hi beam 3k, low beam 5k) and its AWESOME at night.

I also have a pair in my VW, 6k and its nice visibility as well.

Don't hesitate and do it. You're obviously not going to have a perfect HID light pattern, but if you play around with the lens adjustments you'll be able to get away with it.

Thanks NYC FJ62.

I knew the headlamps and HID system should work. But I was a little unsure about the wiring harness.

It was actually a post of yours that led me to DDM. So thanks :flipoff2:

As long as you use reflectors designed for hid you will be fine, the oem reflectors are not. I tried a xenon kit in my hj60, the light was very good and my visibility was drastically improved, however the light went everywhere and blinded oncoming traffic. Here in norway it is compulsory to drive with your low beams on all the time. so i discarded the kit before i was stopped by the authorities.

It's a 20+ year old truck.

You cant expect to have OEM spec, perfect HID cut-offs. (Unless money is no object)

If they HID 7" housings exist (Im almost positive they do)..theyre $$$$$.

The only option left would be to retrofit HID projectors into the H4 housings which is very popular as well. Audi TT projectors are cheap and a dime a dozen on ebay. I don't think 60/62's have the space behind the headlight housings to be able to fit projectors anyway, but I might be wrong as these rigs are still fairly new to me.

Get the stuff you have planned, mess around with aiming the lights, and forget about it. It wont be THAT bad as you'll at least have them in H4 (which are euro spec) housings. The light pattern will definitely be better than if you were to throw some HID's into a US spec housing.

From what I've read about DDM, I personally would not do business with them. They have horrible customer service.

I did it with Hella head lamps worked great I LOVE EM ... best upgrade I've done .... Hella make H4 head lamps for the 62 so it would be easy to do them too.... only problem is your off road light will SUCK , so you'll have to upgrade them too

Did you even read that thread ?

Its about them changing around some software/hardware.

He (DDM) also states they are in the business for the fun of it and not looking to get rich off it. They are into the "sport" also.

As mentioned, I've ordered from them in the past (as have many others I know) and not one person has had an issue with them.

Eddie,

Yes, I've ordered from them as well. Very nice products. But I have read threads about poor customer service, products failing, and lack of e-mails being returned. I hope this is just a hicup during the hardware upgrade.

You can be in a business for fun - but if you take people money, then you need to be responsive to there needs and take it seriously.

I've used ddm several times and all the transactions have been good. It takes a while to ship but they have always came and both of my ddm hid kits have worked great for the past 7 months(lifetime warranty).

BTW the H4 hi/low hid kit comes with the wiring harness.

Thanks for all the info guys.

lndcruz, appreciate the heads up about the harness.

kling-on, your thread inspired me to do the same.

I think I have settled on this setup. It will take me a bit to get to but when I do I will be sure to post pics.

HIDs would be nice but with so many other things...I opted for the complete IPF headlight housing, bulbs and ARB harness upgrade...it was easily 5 times brighter than stock. Those HIDs would be outstanding as long as the heat and power does not wreak havoc.
