Hey guys, looking to get some input on what parts I NEED to go back to an Aisin carb.

PO de-smogged and threw a Weber on. I'm going to stay de-smogged, but I'm not too sure on the other parts I'll need to collect in order to do this. Any help on this one?

Thanks

Carb Insulator Plate, Factory Air Cleaner Housing, Vacuum Hoses, and valves for the hoses.

Carb
air cleaner assembly, mounting bolts, new OEM filter
valve cover breather elbow
intake snorkel
air cleaner/carb gasket
carb insulator plate
4 mounting studs & nuts
Mechanical throttle linkage
choke cable
formed steel fuel line
vac & breather hoses as necessary, depending on the severity of the hack desmog

Mechanical throttle linkage

If you end up needing the Mechanical throttle linkage, i have it all. I have the gas pedal all the way to the carb.

Good luck with you swap and happy holidays.

- It's a 32/36 so I still have manual choke.
- As for the linkage... what all do I need?
- What is involved in keeping the de-smogg with an Aisin?
Is it simply fuel and vacuum like the weber?
- Will I be able to keep 6-1 header? Or do I have to go back to OEM manifolds?

Thanks

BTW when I actually go for this I'll send the carb off to you as per ALL the good words about your rebuilds. Do you do de-smogged Aisins, or will I have to modify myself?

If someone has the whole pedal assembly I would go for it. Unless you wanna post some pictures.

The desmogged AISIN is simpler than stock, but not more simple than the Weber. FJ40Jim is the man for AISIN's from word of mouth.

You should be able to keep the header. The AISIN bolts on the same intake you have.

Been searching and reading ALOT.. thinking of going TBI. Seems to be most bang for buck and not too hard to set up. Someone give me some direction dammit!

I have not had a desmogged Aisin, mine had all the nightmarish plumbing still attached. I have had Holleys, Webers (my favorite for smaller motors) and on the V8, an Edelbrock, a Rochester (my favorite large engine carb) and lastly, TBI. I don't know what you didn't like about the Weber, but if you found that hard to tune, FI might make you suicidal. It is not a bolt on affair, it requires tuning and that involves doing data logging with a laptop, adjusting things based on the feedback and making new chips or having somebody do that part for you. There are some Mudders who have done much of this work already and may be able to provide the right software to make the 2F run well. The hardware is not difficult. You do not need the original exhaust manifold for any carb or TBI, but a fluid heat riser to go with your header makes a world of difference in cold climates as the intake manifold tends to get crazy cold with the drop in pressure, atomized fuel, etc.
