Finally got around to fixing that all-too-common tear in the Drivers seat. Fabric was half missing, along with a good portion of the foam. What do you think?

They are Mastercraft's Mil Spec units mounted on the original Toyota sliders. The fit is fantastic and I think they sit great. They don't recline, but they suit my purpose. My rig is mostly just off-road , so I would rather have harnesses and suspension seats than the ability to nap at lunch.

The next item on the agenda is the back seat. It has a huge rip in the vinyl on the front. I am planning to re-cover it with the same cordura as the Mastercrafts.

Yeah, we have five or six sets in our local group.

Badass! How do you like the 4 point harness for daily driving? Got pics of where you bolted it to the body?

I saw these MC seats at a recent offroad expo. I loved them. This is the color I want for my 60

The seats are bolted to the factory sliders. The Harnesses are clip-in style, and have three clips. One for each side of the lap belt and one for the shoulders. The two shoulder harnesses come together behind the seat in a 'Y' shape. I removed all of the OE front seat belts. This leaves 6 large bolts exposed along the floor behind the seats. On each side- one at the latch, one at the retractor, and one at the static end of the belt. I ran a 2000lb (working load) grade 30 chain through the seat pedestals, and put all of the bolts back where they came from. The chain is tight enough that it does not rattle, and it is mounted in the factory locations, which I trust will hold. Plus, it is totally reversible. The harness simply clips to the chain.

Cool Thanks. for this to work right, you need a really really big can. Thats a roll of paper towels, so you can judge the size.

This particular can is for Apache anti-tank munitions. It is 17" long, 10" wide (same as the factory plastic junk) and 14" high-just right as an armrest. It takes mods to make it work just right. The lid has a latch on either end, and only lifts straight up to remove it. I cut the retainer lip off of the back, so that the lid can pivot. Then I welded the handle in the locked position on the same end. The handle and latch are now a giant hinge. I added my factory cupholder to the front, and mounted the case in the floor with the factory bolts. You can see in the second picture that I also welded a loop on the can, so that the latch closes over the loop and a padlock can be inserted. I would bet that a theif would have a harder time getting into this than anything Tuffy makes. It weighed 25lbs before I did any mods, and it is designed to contain an explosion. So there you have it- a bomb proof console. I can easily reproduce these and have them ready to bolt in to your rig if there is enough interest.

i dont mean to stir up s*** here and im no expert on the subject... but from my experience with baja bugs, that is not a safe way to mount the seat belts, and could cause serious back injuries

i think its supposed to be just below straight back from where the seat belt go through or over the seat back

maybe someone smarter will chime in

How much would it cost? This is definitely something I need for my truck.

I stand corrected about the seats. $800?!?!?!?

Chris, I can post more pics if you e-mail them to me.

Thanks Caleb. I would've responed earlier, but I just finished up with work. Then I took the covers off of the back seats to use for a pattern so I can remake them in Cordura to match. I found it like you suggested, and it is on the way now.

It is mounted exactly as you described. The belts come through the seat as a pair, then Mastercraft joined them together and that web goes straight down and clips on. It couldn't go any straighter or flatter. The belts are not modified, and are U.S. Mil Spec.
If it is wrong though, it is because I am a dumba$$, and I will fix it, if you can show me what exactly is the matter.

i dont mean to be making anyone feel dumb here, i dont really understand it myself and i made the mistake myself also on my baja bug, heres the website i was referred to:

Crow Enterprizes Installation Tips

i think its the straight down part of the shoulder harnesses thats wrong... maybe it doesnt matter on a slow speed rig like a cruiser?

Nemisis, I looked at that link. Thanks for posting it. The mastercrafts are made with about 6 feet of belt after the Y comes together. That would be excessive for the mount Crow Suggests. Here is a pic of the back of my seat (captured from MC's website)

I drew the green lines to indicate how I snapped the ends down. They would be easy to move if this is wrong.
