why can't one of the big companies sell a good quality cheap bumper like Marlin's?

I'm just whining cause I dont actually want to finish (or I should say start) up the one I bought steel for months ago. I think this one by Marlin Crawler would be sweet if it were made for a 60....http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/armor.htm#bumpers

Price is reasonable, especially compared to some prices that are out there.

I second that, a cheap tube bumper for the 60 would be great. better than bent chrome stockers I have right now.

would you like me to see what i can do?

:grinpimp:

and what are you looking to pay?

That marlin bumper is exactly what i want in mine, light, tube, with wraparound protection for radically cut quarters.

No doodads, no bulk.

Hopefully mine will turn out well when i get to cutting soon.

I bet you could make the marlin work pretty easily...

That's kinda what I was thinking... but if I am going to cut and weld and put effort into it, I might as well just fab it up myself.

Haha, well yeah.

But at least most of the work is done for ya already.

Heck yeah... I love your bumpers man. Just a bit spendy (not to say they're not worth it). It's also more bumper than I need. I'm not looking for anything that has a swingout tire carrier or gas cans. Just a basic "wheelers" type of bumper without a lot of frills.... cheap, light, bolt-onish, and that offers good protection (bottom of the quarter pan and a bit of upper side of the quarter body).

I think what Marlin set for a price is pretty good... $250-$300ish. I really like the style of it too:

My current rear protection is pathedic.

I thinking something that protects the side and bottom (my daughter wanted to help model where:

and some tube that comes up to about here:

I like the t-shirt in the background...

Ask marlin the width of that bumper....might work easier than you think.

2Bad...if you make a basic 1/8 plate bumper w/o the frills I am willing to bet you well sell a lot. Also with otions of adding on in the future.

yeah, I might give Marlin a buzz tomorrow. I'd be interested to see what 2bad comes up with too if he's serious. I think that if someone where to come up with something like marlin's bumper at about that same price they'd walk into a gold mine...

Hmmm, maybe I should finally break down and get a tube bender.

I see your point and I agree with you.

But

A mini weighs a lot less than you 60 series. I think one for you rig would need to be a bit more heavy duty than what you are looking at on the MC site.

Think about if you drop over a ledge or come to the bottom of a waterfall. How much weight do you have hitting the rock versus a mini.

I run the 67" marlin sliders for mini's on my 60 and use them regularly.

yeah, maybe... 1 3/4 .120 is pretty burly though. Might need a little better attachment points (maybe connect at the frame rails as well?) but I think that with a little redesigning, a cheaper bumper like Marlin's could be reality.

cute kid, your'e gonna need a shotgun!

what about 2" .120 wall for the heavy 60's?
1/4 protection could be supported by a body mount right behind the rear tires ;)

I'm thinkin you're onto something! oh yeah, I dont have a body mount there anymore though! :)

yeah, kinda scary... shotgun already purchased!
