So, I don't think I've really posted any pix of my cruiser but after the recent mods, it looks more like "mine" then it did before so, enjoy :)

Bigger pic here:

I had Over the hill put on springs that I traded with Zach for (mine ended up being useless due to an unfortunate 70mph jumping issue) as well as his old Oldman Emu shocks and some new BFG Mud Terrain (33") wrapped around some Mojave American Racing (teflon coated) wheels. I have a Hell For Stout steering stabilizer that will go on as soon as I can get the front of the cruiser into the garage :)

...I was going to put on a shackle reversal and I have a set of the short AALs but - that would have really made the ride/height insane.

Before anyone asks, the roof rack is a SOR and cost me 60 Pyramid ales (I bought every Safeway in the area out of them).

One sorta funny part you can't see in this pic is my gun rack on the passenger side, it currently has my axe in it which makes the people at work worry about me... Granted, I've actually had to use it TWICE (not on people at work) for dead falls.

Plans are that I'm going to drive this truck to my property (north west of Fairbanks) Alaska the end of the last week in August and stay in it for all of Sept while I work my land getting it ready for a cabin then drive the truck back down after.

The motor has approx 5,500miles on a full rebuild and due to a wobbly harmonic balancer, the bottom end has about 3,000miles.
Really the only thing that sorta sucks about the truck is I can tell the power steering pump is getting surly and I have a slight exhaust leak. I plan on addressing the exhaust leak when my dad pulls his 2F headers off of his soon to be ex wifes FJ40 and gives it to me :D. Gunna keep the motor pretty stock till I can find a diesel.

The only other modifications I've added was a mp3 player, some 3 way speakers and a Hella Map light (I have one in my Rally Car and love it so much I had to have one in the truck), this truck is also my teams tow rig now :)

Future plans for the truck:
*2badfjs is building me a full rear bumper! WOOHOO!
*I'm going to try my hand/welder at a front bumper + winch mount.
*Self recovery winch.
*Gunna try my hand at some sliders.
*Snorkel (and yes, I actually plan on using it). ;)
*Wood storage boxes to go over/around the wheel wells
that leave me room for a little mattress in between.
*A/C -> air compressor conversion.
*corner and rear lights for the roof rack.

Man, color me happy - it rides a helluva lot better then it did before (on 6 broken leafs).

nice looking rig travis! a lift and some 33's really give a cruiser a nice stance. sounds like you have your work cut out for ya when you head up to AK. What exactly are you doing to the property up there?

Thanx! Yea, a fair bit of work but for a month, not that bad. It'll just be nice to be out doing real work on my own land in the middle of nowhere with my cruiser :)

Right now it's pretty rural... Looks like this:

...but there is no road to it. So, gunna start with that. It's a square 10 acres and am gunna cut a road through the middle east to west and hopefully clear a spot for the cabin. Next year I'll come up and do the foundation start assembling the logs. Year after that, Assemble the floor, stack the logs blah blah blah...

right on travis! your rig looks sweet. I have the shackle reversal and am planning on cutting it off very soon as I am more and more hating it on the trails and even for daily driving. your rig sits perfect. I have the same rack and will be ordering a floor kit this week (pending my financial advisors blessing)

let me know what and how you are building for a front bumper. i just finished my base rear and am starting the swing out but want to get started on the front this week. I will be following 2mbb design with some tweaks.

if you are free for some grinding and welding in the evening soon let me know. i would love to come out or you are more than welcome at my place. my weekends are pretty much gone for the rest of this month with work related training.

btw, what length are your shackles? are they the 1-2" over stock 4+ ones?

I was thinkin about a floor kit today! I think I might try and source some expanded metal and trim it to fit myself. Though, on initial glance, that's not turning out to be so easy (finding the material) - we'll see how that works :)

I will! I'll no doubt post my drawings and designs along with progress pix, but I don't think I'll be getting started for at least 1-2 months.

Sweet! I'll admit though, I'm just now training myself how to weld. I have this theory that if you are intelligent and have just a wee bit of talent you can do pretty well anything so - I keep trying things till proven wrong (or burn the house down).

Also, I'm in the midst of rebuilding my Rally car after a 75mph roll over on a cliff (long story) so right now, that's where the bulk of my time is going and probably will be going for probably the next month.

I honestly don't know, I know they are bigger, but am unsure of their dimensions. Next time I go out I'll post their measurements...

I am having a hard time finding the metal as well. the best so far is a 4x6 sheet for $60. too bad the rack is 5x7.

please do post some pics. I am horrible about taking them untill my projects are finished. I will try some maybe tomorrow.

your vw looks pretty good for going over a cliff at 75. must have been one heck of a ride!

Travis,

What are the specs on those wheels? They look great.

Thanks,
Dan

Looking sweet man! Saw you rolling around town the other day near the Carls Jr. on cornell. Well at least I think it was you.

Thanx!~ Whens yours going to be done?! If it looked like that picture, I doubt there are many around here that look like me! :bounce2:

Wheel size, backspacing?

How much lift do you have? Estimated?

Thanks,
Dan

Hey!! You are moving up to my neck of the woods. You can check out my 60 in the thread labled "intro". Your 60 is way cooler than mine though. Give me a holler when you get up here so I can check that ride out! Those birch trees on your lot look very nice!. 10 acres is a good chunk of land as well.

Willdo! I used to live in NorthPole, off of Badger Road and Marjorie Lane - yeeeeeaaaaarrrrrrs ago. Thanx! I need a decent chunk of land, I have lotsa cars/projects :P

GEN2600,
Are you running wheel spacers for those wheels?

None. I went back to this tire place "Americas Tire/Discount" about 4 times so they could test fit wheels cause the wheels they kept thinking were right or would fit would either have a wrong back spacing or wouldn't clear the brakes, I can't remember what we settled on. I'll get that info from them and post if up - it'll probably help someone.

I will indeed! Where did you find your 4'x6' sheet? I could probably get
more then spot weld the bastard together to make a full 5x7 if the price is right. I'll keep lookin.

Thanx! We were REALLY lucky we didn't actually go off the cliff, we were "drifting" around a left hand corner at 75, full throttle when my front left wheel grabbed the inside cliff wall and pulled us up, all I could see was sky and hood hahah. Then the car left the cliff face like an airplane crashing and we landed on the passenger side front fender and slid 25" before finally rolling. Our cars are only spaced 60 seconds apart in race so I got out as quick as I could and tried to roll the car onto it's wheels. Well, the spectators were screaming at me to stop - I looked on the other side of the car and there couldn't have been more then 2" of road before the drop off. I drew a crude picture of the ordeal:

rolledrabbit.sized.jpg

...talk about exciting :) - it's taken me two years to rebuild the car. Bent frame horns, fenders smashed, door smashed, unibody wavy, roof smashed in almost a solid foot etc... Doing up a hot rod drive train for it too.

Really looks like the perfect size tire for the truck. Kinda makes me rethink the 295/75/16's ive been looking at.

Looks good... I really like those wheels. I was orginally going to have my stockers powdercoated a similar color, but I might change my mind after seeing those.

 to a sweet rig!

Gen2600,

Did you have a chance to get that wheel info, yet?

Thanks,
Dan

cruiser looks great. I always wondered what a brown sugar 60 with Mojave and 33s would look like.

I have the mojave's on my tacoma and did a test on my cruizer and it they would fit? So I scratched that idea. I think the Mojave 16x8 have 4 or 4.5 inch bs. I'm curious also.
