I bought it out of Placer Co and I haven't transferred the title yet, so the test was based on the current registered address, a non-treadmill test, what they call a dual idle test. The air pump diverter valve is probably shot so it was actually too high in oxygen. My favorite smog guy "loaded it up" by slipping the clutch a bit and got it to pass. He said it would pass the treadmill test easily, which is what I'll be up against in two years.

The idle is still a bit high, though the adjustment is all the way out. Any ideas? I adjusted the mixture using a vacuum gauge as I have done in the past. It does smell just a bit rich at the pipe.

Any chance some linkage bit on the carb could be bent a bit? The linkage from the pedal is hacked a bit, since it's an '86 2f, but it's not binding anywhere that I can see.

Congrats! I know that feeling of "whoopdedoo, Hot diggity ,Dangit!" when you pass smog. Fortunately mines a '75 so I'm exempt. I used to dread a smog check more than a dentist appt. Truthfully! I live in an area that has "enhanced smog regulations", because of all the filth from San Fran. blowing down here and settling over my fair city. We always have the treadmill test, anything to help you FAIL the test is the order of the day!:mad::mad: Oh, sorry, I dont have an answer to your question, I just had to vent.
