A couple of mos ago I purchased a used lift off of craigslist
Its a 4" taken from an fj40 cause the new owner wanted
a HFS 2.5"
I was wondering if anyone could ID the thing.
The only numbers on the springs are
L40fs and L40r
the dude said It was a comfort ride kind of lift.
I am think he meant. not so ruff it will kill ya. and
soft enough to flex ok.
Anyhow. if anyone recognizes these markings it would
be cool to know where they came from.

Tuff without pic's, PRO COMP sold a soft ride lift. Maybe that one ..

I will take pics tomorrow

I have a procomp 2.5 lift on the unit now.
the springs have a long 6 or 8 digit number on em
not saying that eliminates procomp.

I can take some pics tomorrow.
there are only 4 full size leafs and one small that extends
like 8" either side of the spring pack on the bottom

Thanks for lookin. Here's hopin someone has these number on their springs

Dirtsquirt, I dont know anything about the springs but what do you have planned for those old 2.5in springs? How did you like those pro comp, I havent heard great things, but my original springs suck. Dont mean to hijack your post, though. I am in spokane as well, let me know! Thanks! :)

Sounds like Downey 4" springs. We use numbers like that on our leafs. If they are, you've scored genuine NHK's. We use Toyotas spring company for quality, soft ride, anti-dive control, safety features, longevity features, etc. etc. etc.

You get those from a guy in Benton City? If so, I was looking at grabbing those, but you beat me to them. Seemed like a good price. Nice find, if they work for you.

Yep

Nice enough guy. has a nice cruiser. I am not sure if he does cruisers for a living or hobby. He has a nice operation.
If it was a kit from Downey he hornsaggled me on the shackles
the shackles that came with the springs are poorly made.
I will know near the end of summer if it works for me.
not gonna get around to installing it till then.
Most likely the springs were bought separately . not in kit form.
The current lift is so stiff its almost comical

Beware of what you buy from Brett Young in Benton City Wa! Not the most honest guy in the world. He screwed me, and from what I now know I'm not the first. He does have a nice FJ40 operation, too bad he is crooked!

Good luck on the springs, I'm sure they are fine. Not much you can misrepresent or hide there.

LOL

Dont get your panties in a bunch.
If you read my post I had no complaints.

The only negative thing i said. If it was a downey kit. then the
shackles couldnt be the ones that came with the kit.
Cause I gotta believe downey wouldnt make or sell or even give a away stuff like that.
I even mentioned that the springs were probably purchased individualy and not part of a kit
Any way I have no complaints.
Shackles are cheap. and cheaper if you work in a machine shop.

"Well this guy is a very large man," I resemble this remark!
Thanks for the springs. Have a nice summer.

Oh, just to be clear, I don't give refunds on vehicles I sell because the buyer's wife decides he doesnt need it. If it's my fault, I will fix it, if it's beyond my control or ridiculous, or for $2800 you expect a mint restored FJ40 after you look at it and tell me you like it, then call me a crook in public without telling me your concerns, you also get no refund

Let me first say your very wrong my wife loves the cruiser and I don't regret buying it. I just feel that I was a bit mislead, as I was a first time cruiser buyer and you are a longtime collecter and restorer of Land Cruisers. Buying a cruiser with no title, as you advertised it, is very different than a cruiser with the VIN plates removed and the VIN ground out of the frame. I did try emailing you several times and I left several telephone messages for you and never got a return email or call from you. I wasn't trying to return the cruiser, I just wanted your years of expertise and experience to help get the cruiser on the road. And by you not returning my emails or calls I felt like you knowingly took advantage and ripped me off buy withholding information. I just wanted your help to work through the issue. I didn't expect
a mint restored FJ40
the cruiser is just what I wanted other than the VIN issue. Mechanically the thing is just as you advertised. I didn't call you a crook nor do I think that your a crook. I just really wanted to be part of the Land Cruiser family and didn't do all the research I should have. I have learned a valueale life lesson from this experience buyer beware...

That being said the past is the past and I don't hold grudges. I hope the best for you and your cruiser operation/hobby. I may even be hitting you up for parts in the future.

The Land Cruiser is now on the road thanks to many hours on the computer and some great help from some cruiser guys & MUD, not to mention many hours in the garage. As I said I don't regret buying it, I just wish I didn't have to jump through so many hoops to get it on the road.

dealings in Benton City, WA

Wow now I remember why I don't check in at IH8MUD anymore. The drama here reminds me of a Barack Obama rally on T.V. telling crying whining losers in life how they were disadvantaged by Exxon or a college.

I have bought numerous parts from Brett in Benton City. Every single time I dealt with him the parts have been underpriced. Not once have I felt that I was being charged even close to fair market value for his stuff. But I have been burned numerous times right in Spokane, WA by other sellers but I won't be crying about it or posting the guys names. What is most ironic is that of all the people that will sell spare parts I am shocked that Brett is being attacked. There are two or three people in Eastern WA and North Idaho who routinely burn newbie FJ40 guys. But this is one of the good guys for heavens sake.

Welcome FJ40Nut1976

I guess no one has welcomed you to the board - so welcome!

Now you can help answer all those question that keep coming up -will these tires fit, how much should I pay for this, is this lift any good, and so on.
