Hey guys,

My dad worked for Sea Ray boats for 30 years and worked in, as well as, ran the upholstery dept. for half that time. He has the equiptment and has always made my seat covers and has made a variety of other tops for people. I spoke to him and he said he could do it, but needs one for a pattern as well as a frame set so that he can fit them correctly. If we can get this stuff together he is our man.

On the other hand I dont want to steal our buddy's business from overseas. If you all think it will be ok then lets get this started.

be prepared to be aweful busy;). Most definately. Who ever I deal with, I'm looking/needing a few more and there are two other guys that live within a mile of me that are looking to purchase soon.

I am always a cheerleader for the US over other countries. Comp. is healthy, plus getting products from overseas is to volatile. Especialy at this time.

Jeremy

That's awesome, go for it. I'll be looking for one in a couple months when the weather heats up again.

I am wanting one as well. I we just need a pattern to work from. I also need to get ahold of some bows so that once made the tops can be fit correctly. I will need help from others to get this started. My dad is willing to make these for us.

The big thing with the tops is getting the factory bows to go with the top. Those are the real bitch to get a hold of. :p

So Tad... would you have to disassemble the top to get a good pattern? or can one be made just from measurements???? I have the complete set-up and might be interested in making a donation to the cause........ my Paki top is only 7 months old, been wet 3 times and is falling apart.... I really like the look, but I want one made better in various areas...... What are your ideas on windows and material??

Have you talked to Ehsan about your issues?

I've benn looking @ the Paki tops for a while - you can count me in for one top, one set of bows when up and running

Now if we could only get you to start fabricating parts that would be awesome. One thing at a time I guess. I would be interested in seeing the finished product and would love nothing more to keep it within the U.S.A

Another area of concern Tad... the width of your cover material?... I would rather not have a seam running the length of the top as the paki top does.....

Count me in too...

What type of materials are you thinking about? Cool idea....would be nice to have a "local" source.:bounce:

Yes, he would need to take it apart and make patterns from it. It would also help to see where it is coming apart so we could fix those areas, and any ideas you have to improve it. There could be a variety of different materials seeing as though we may have a larger selection here in the states. It may take some time to get this up and running, but with help getting bows and the patterns it is deff a go.

VTcruiser60,

is this a top we can take apart to make patterns? It could be re-assembled after. Let me get things organized with my dad and I will send you his address.

MOTOLOCO,

Are the bows different for different years. What are your suggestions for duplicating the bows? This will all help us get started.
