I'm a little late with the intro post, but better late than never. I've been a LC fan since my first drive in 1983 an 82 FJ-40 that a friend bough new (or I should say his parents bought for him). Since then, there has been a lot of water under the bridge and a few Toyota rigs ... a '69 40, '86 Turbo 4x4 pickup, 89 FJ62, 86 FJ60, 92 XtraCab 4x4, and a few 4runners. The last Cruiser I owned, I had to sell in '96 and have been without one until now.

I started looking for a "new to me" Cruiser in the late summer. Looked at a few 80's, but determined for my needs, a 100 would work better. I think I spanned the years of production in my search, as well as the price range. Spotted a fresh trade-in at a Lexus dealer in Augusta and that became the one ...

Of all the rigs I looked at, this one was in the best overall condition. One-owner 2006 with 78K miles and no AHC, complete service history at local dealer, very good exterior, only wear in the interior was in the driver's seat and armrest. The maintenance was fairly complete with new brakes at 72K miles. CarFax showed no collision damage and my inspection revealed none as well. I had lurked here a good bit and learned the areas to look closely at. I believe the rig spent its prior life shuttling golf clubs to Augusta National ...

So now I have a new daily driver / hunting rig / exploration rig. Once I baseline the maintenance on this beast, it'll get built like many here ... tires / sliders / modest lift / bumpers / probably a rear locker. I figured upon a slow build process, but the Cruiser Gods were smiling upon me ... the week after I bought the rig, I found out my alimony payments will end soon ... :bounce: so the pace of mods may speed up a bit ....

At any rate, I am looking forward to spending more time here and tweaking my new Cruiser to suit my needs ...

Now for the obligatory poser shots ....

Welcome aboard and congrats on the Alimony coming to an end. Look forward to the progress.

Lord, I miss South Carolina.

Nice ride. I think the fender flares are more hideous than the running boards.

Welcome aboard! Great looking rig, very clean.

First mods (free):

1. Remove the OEM fender flares attached to the OEM fender flares (why they double stacked the stupid things is something I'll never figure out )
2. Remove the OEM running boards (passenger side bolts near the front are tricky but not impossible - have a few different extensions on hand)
3. Adjust torsion bars to level the truck front to rear

After that, there are plenty of other builds to model your rig off of. Again, welcome to 'Mud. Looking forward to seeing your build.

Welcome from New Mexico.

I'm going to look at removing the flares ... am hoping that they are held on only with adhesive and won't leave behind holes in the body.

Running boards will come off when sliders go on ... or when my trail riding gets to the point there is danger there (I have a "heep" to beat on rolling on 35s for fun).

Since the truck will be used for some towing for a while, I think I'll leave the rake in place ...

Thanks for the welcome guys ...

Congrats and welcome!

AFAIK, there should be no holes on the exposed fender surfaces but often times the paint rubs through around the edges of the flares.

Nice and Welcome.
