Give Jason a call, he is a great resource.
Choosing coils is like choosing pants at the store. These are the questions to ask yourself. Everyone is slightly different too, so running what someone else runs might not give you the same result...
Hopefully the purchase price wasn't too bad, considering the body/frame stuff you mentioned. And hopefully you can sell it for what you paid if not a bit more.
I agree. For those like myself who want to run the stock 16" wheels and oversize a bit to 33" and 35" OD tires, the selection is often limited and mostly E load tires from what I found.
Hey bud
There are just 2 rear variable rate options. one being taller than the other. C59-223V would be the ones if you'd prefer to keep it lower, or C59-175V if you want it taller. If you think you'll add more constant rear weight, then the...
Was is sent by USPS? I've had some issues with them this year saying parts were delivered, but they physically weren't (sent to people I trust). If it was UPS or Fedex, you can make a claim with them for the lost shipment.
I was thinking about this more yesterday. A vehicle scale measures the total vehicle weight, including all the unsprung weight (aftermarket wheels, tires, etc, are all heavier than stock, so it isn't helpful in determining the actual added...
You're within 1" of where it should sit based on the info Dobinsons gives, so I'd say your weight isn't as heavy as you think. The only way to change the rear height to make it lower is to change the springs, unless you want to modify the coils...
No, Dobinsons don't give out specs on most of their variable rate springs. EDIT: I found some old notes, I do have them, they're 205-245lb rate.
They're not a heavy rate though, and with stock shocks compared to Icon high pressure monotube...
Yup, as soon as my BP-51’s blow up, I’ll swap them out for the Dobinson MRR’s. Love the adjustability on them. I was on a particularly heavily corrugated road recently with my VDJ79, stopped to air down, and noticed the shocks were fairly hot...
The reason you have heard in the past that suspension lifts are better that body lifts is because suspension lifts increase clearance under the belly of the truck while body lifts do not. However, larger tires increase ground clearance...
Small update after swapping rear R and L springs.
L side (driver) is now 21.75 and R side (passenger) is the same, at 22.5. This is an improvement, I should have compared spring height with OEM springs and installed accordingly.
I recently went...
I agree with what you’re saying @Broski The worst thing you can do, and what probably most of all lifted 80s have, is to space down your frame bump stop and leave the coil bumper at stock height. That coil bumper, which in stock form takes the...
Installed some Timbren bumps (100 series version) to my existing 2" bump stop spacers. Left out the circular isolator plate due to the clearance with coils. I may consider changing out the spacer with a 1.5" but I'll test this for now. These will...
Yes, they're pretty long and will work as ~2" extensions. No one could ever figure out why Timbren made the bracket part so long on them. There's a lot of good discussion about them in this thread here...
