Toyota Historical Pictures

Since there was alot of confusion about werether to post pics in the data thread ( http://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-...ical-data.html ) .....i thoought it would be a smart thing to post a thread just for Historical Pictures....sooooo....there's no confusion

Anyway If you have any Good pictures of historical toyota stuff that wouldnt necessarily be TLC related...but...have significance....we shall post them here.

Only 3 rules apply:
1) Toyota related
2) This 25 forum is all about old stuff so older the better
3) Give as much information about the pic that you have avail.

That all being said....let the *$%$ fly

03/1947 Entry into production of “BM” type large truck.
pic 1) bm on the right and kc on left:
pic 2) bm postal truck:

pic 3) “During and after WWII, supplies of gasoline were low in Japan. To cope with this, a truck—equipped with a “wood gas generator”—went into production. Compared to gasoline-powered autos, the lack of power in this truck was impossible to ignore. People often had to get out and push them up hills. Approximately 26,000 of these trucks were produced (based on the Toyota BM model), and at the time were the primary type of available truck.”

More:

Mobilgas Rally 1957 Australia
"...17,000km course around the country in 19 days. In agreeing to the venture, Shotaro Kamiya, president of Toyota Motor Sales declared: “There will be no progress if you fear failure.”
Testing was undertaken in Japan and on the event the car – a near-production standard model and the first Toyota ever seen in Australia – performed brilliantly, completing the full distance and marking an historic first step in Toyota’s motor sport activities. Just a year later, Toyota recorded its first victory, when a Crown won the Around Japan Rally."

Pic 2) is a Nissan... My wife says it is old style writing and hard to translate, but it says something about being a powerful truck, as was used by the military (from Showa 16 /17 = 1941 / 42)

Pic 3) part if it says something about "truck chassis" and "of the world?"

Dang Johnny, where do you find these things?! Me wants 'em!

Wife says first one says "Toyota Motor Company Overview"
The other two are titled "Toyota News", and the colored issue appears to be a New Years issue (the first cars of the new year?) - we think this is the case because of the bamboo decoration behind the people (there is probably another to the left, off image) and since the women are wearing Kimonos - typical new years indicators.

Also kind of neat to see that most of the cars are RHD, but note the second one in line is LHD.

Here are a few brochures from my collection...
