Ok, this one has been bugging me for quite some time now. I think it's time to fix it.

My truck has manual HVAC controls, with a 4-speed blower switch: 'Low', 'Medium', 'Medium/High', and 'High'. The "Medium/High" setting has never worked properly. It functions merely as a "Low" setting.

I've already replaced the blower resistor (behind the glovebox), and still no change.

I believe the problem lies in the switch itself. I've tried to get it out, had the dash apart and everything, but the control panel won't budge, which prevents me from doing anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Deja vu.

I was in there a few weeks ago. After the dash is off, remove the faceplate and A/C switch. The switch pulls right out of a socket. There are 4 screws that hold the unit in place. Not sure how the linkages attach, but you will probably need to remove the radio as well to get in there.

Truth be told, I never had that assembly out of the truck. I was chasing down a short in the dash and while I was there fixed a bad connection on one of the bulbs for the heater and cleaned the lenses.

AHHHH. Bad intel. The radio has 4 screws 4 sure. I think i remember screws holding the heater panel too, but now I'm not sure.

From the FSM:

13. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL UNIT
(a) Remove four nobs and the name plate.
(b) Remove four screws and hang the heater control unit.

The FSM can't be wrong...Here's a pic from the FSM.

Thanks Jon. I can get as far as taking off the name plate thing, but it's the control unit as a whole that I can't get out... I removed the screws, but it still won't budge.
