For sale is my 80 series. I bought it used in 1997 with 40K miles on it. I've driven and maintained it for 14 years and ~ 168K miles.
I'm selling it to pursue something older, in worse condition, and much more impractical - not interested in trades - $1,500 or best offer
the good:
- factory front and rear locking differentials, fully functional
- ARB front bumper (dented & scratched but still 1000% better than stock) - (winch ready but no winch)
- rust bucket running boards removed
- factory stereo bit the dust so replaced with aftermarket (4 new/improved speakers as well - no big glass shattering subs or anything, just a functional double din cd/tape/radio/with remote
- electric antenna works properly with up & down switch
- rusty paper clip power steering cooler replaced with aftermarket cooler
- PHH replaced
- Never overheated, but have replaced the radiator (toyota from C-Dan) and fan clutch (both prolly 2 years ago), (always flushed and ran toyota red with distilled H2O)
runs drives and shifts well
- everything works except A/C (key fob buttons (door lock actuation from fob) might not work I have to check that - went through he laundry)
- comes with broken in factory repair manual (one of my favorite books)
the bad:
- shudder/shimmy when braking (warped rotors?)
- battery is 8 years old and won't hold charge
- occasional CEL that is easy to clear with pull of fuse
- normal wear and tear inside and out (drivers seat has tear ($pectre seat covers on front row) 2nd and third rows in good shape.
- in heavy rain some water makes its way to the drivers foot well (sunroof drain?)
- A/C components are in place but no cold air comes out
- some small holes in the exhaust (down stream of cats, cats were replaced (aftermarket a few years ago) down pipes were replaced within the last few years too.
- drivers side axle tube is missing its guide ring for reinsertion of inner axle (string trimmer line through the axle vent bolt hole works great as a hoist for inner axle replacement though - I add this more for full disclosure and FYI than anything else)
-missing one center cap
The good for some bad for others"
- no airbags (never had 'em for this vintage)
- The undisputed strongest transmission ever built in the universe
- head gasket never replaced (haven't seen the need , will include instructional DVD though in case preventative head gasket replacement is your thing)
- factory roof rack removed (holes filled with globs of silicone)
In so many words this is a well used, sturdy, stout truck. it has spent its entire life (to date) in New England (not Arizona) and it is priced accordingly. Its a parts truck to some and to others its a rig worth keeping going as is for many years.
