FS-87 FJ60 w/H55 in Pa
I have for sale a 1987 FJ60 with the H55 tranny. I purchased this year with the intent of swapping the engine and drivetrain from the HJ60 that I had at the time into it. I have since sold the HJ60 and have decided to sell the FJ60 to have some additional funds to continue working on my 40. The previous owner thought he was the second owner and said he had the vehicle for about 10 years. He said that he had put the majority of the miles on it with his job traveling to different construction sites. He had put the H55 in it in 2003 along with a new center force clutch/pressure plate and said that he drove it only about 6 months after that. He had parked it in 2003 and it sat until this year. He claimed that he had quit running it because he wanted a car for traveling for work. It currently has 166000 miles on it. He had also put a new radiator in it right before parking it. When I bought it it would run but it was running very rough. I have done the following:Rebuilt carb, installed new fuel pump, replaced rear axle break line, repaired 4wd shift linkage, had rear spring pack broken leaves replaced.
The vehicle now seems to run really well. Always starts right up. Everything seems to work including lights and gauges. The engine oil was really clean when I bought it and it seems to be staying clean so it appears that oil changes were maintined. The body has two fairly large dents on the passenger side-one on front fender and one at the very back of the rear quarter like it was slid into something at somepoint. There is some rust on the door bottoms at the corners that the PO had put sheetmetal over. The top liftgate has rust along the bottom. The last it was inspected was 2003. I had thought about getting it inspected and felt that it should only need a muffler and rear tail lenses(they are broken). Brakes all seem good with fronts about 50% and rear like new. Interior is a little rough-large holes cut in front doors for 6X9 speakers but no speakers, couple of holes in drivers seat, missing rear side interior panels(looks like PO had started to replace with wooded ones), missing radio, fuse cover and one kick panel.
I believe this vehicle could be inspected with minimal expense and ran as is. It's a great start for an off road vehicle with the fantastic low gear of the H55-I wish my 40 had this gearing(I see a future H41 going in the 40). I have the PA title in my hand and in my name. Vehicle is located near Altoona PA. Price of $2800. I will try to get pictures late today so if anyone is interested PM me with your email and I will forward them to you. Thanks
