Gonna find me a little lake right below the treeline ... at the end of a 4WD road ... with just enough room to park the Rubi Kamper on the shoreline ... and DRINK!!
Been home 2 days ... mowed the grass and packed the Rubi Kamper.
One phone call from the Bossman and now gotta be headin' to the airport in a coupla minutes to fly back to Newark airport to fetch the Trusty Ol' Comp'ny Truck outta the long-term parkin' lot ... and head South. No more New York!!
Gotta be in Charleston, SC for a pre-job meetin' on Tuesday ... fly back home Wednesday ...
AND HEAD TO COLORADO THURSDAY FOR 14 DAYS!!
Damn good thang nobody scheduled to meet me up there or this last-minute change would be bad.
And did I mention our illustrious Vice-President/Mechanic/Welder is jumpin' in the jeeper and ridin' along?
Hey Kowboy, what area you guys going to be at? Silverton?
We have a group of about 5 rigs headed around the same area next Friday. Hopefully we will be in the Silverton area toward the end of the week.
If you're remotely interested in seeing some scenery (other than the lake just below the tree line) let us know. We'd be right prowd to hang out with ya.
We're headin' out 'round 0730 tomorrow ... gonna swing into the beer store 'cross the border ... then buy us an Oklahoma map at the Kwik Chek just up the road in Achille ... and then take Okie backroads all the way to Colorado.
Stay tuned ... will update this thread as cell phone coverage allows.
So here we sit ... at the Townsman Motel ... a deluxe 5-star facility in Boise City, OK.
We done traversed 'bout 520 miles of some of Oklahoma's finest back roads. Some were good ... some weren't so good ... but all were fun. Went through countless small towns and some damn pretty country ... and some damn barren country towards the end. Only covered 'bout 40 miles that weren't two-lane.
Actually sad to see so many of the lil' bitty towns are just closin' up and shuttin' down. A piece of Americana that can never be replaced ... and is never seen from the big highways and biways.
Damn glad we got a chance.
Be campin' in the high country of Colorado tomorrow night ... somewhere.
