Just found out I'll be off work until after the holidays.
The :princess: is always trying to get me to take her to Anza Borrego (her favorite), but then asked me to check into the Bradshaw trail. I just learned it's a rockhound's paradise, that's her for sure.

Any recomendations?

We're open to having company.

warm sleeping bags...?

Of the entire community of 7 people wiewing this topic, no one has any insight on the Bradshaw trail?

don't know about the 7 people here (and I for one don't recall doing that one) but lots of info out there, videos etc too, if you're in a hurry.

The portion we did at Desert Rendezvous to an established campsite (can't remember the name) where we hung a left and came back out to the freeway is nothing more than a graded dirt road my Prius could handle. Don't get me wrong, desert is beautiful.

Thanks, I did find some info that should be helpfull.
However, I was hoping somebody here may want to share the location of any double-secret 4WD trail/campsite/geode bed/hot spring or whatever in the surrounding area.

yes, there is the Playboy Mansion hidden nude-only hot spring close by.

But that one is triple-secret... sorry...

:D

I changed my mind, I'm in!

ahhh how I miss Anza Borrego. I was just looking at photos from Truckhaven, Sandstone Canyon and Coyote Flats (I think those are the names of the places). I would love to join you but I am 2500 miles away.

Triple secret...

Tell me something I don't know.

Guess I'll just go at it with a fresh prospective and report back with some pics and hopefully a good story to tell.....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Finally, after 1400 miles, I'm back home and I can report that the Bradshaw trail itself, although senic, is not particularly noteworthy.

Exploring the surrounding area however, made the trip worth the effort.

This is the trail and surrounding mountains.

Nearby Pinnacle canyon was really cool.

Happy New Year! Glad you made it back ok. Looks like the weather cooperated with you.

Happy New Year to you too!

Yeah, the weather was perfect. Totally made up for freezing our butts off on the Mojave trail last year!

Great hiking weather, Here's one more:

I spent a fair amount of time in Anza Borego when I lived in San Diego, but not near enuf. Nice pics!

We never made it to Anza Borrego, we stayed on the east side of the Salton sea the Whole time.

A couple more hiking pics.

This was about as tough as the trail got for wheeling.

So by "not noteworthy" what do you mean? Not challenging? Or do you just know plenty of other places you'd prefer to go?

Both, actually.

It was very remote so it was good for getting away, just not a lot of evidence of human history or the usual desert weirdness.

Guess I'm used to a little more "wtf"
