You think we'll ever hear that song by The Cure on the radio ever again?

    "Killing an Arab"

I remember when you can hear that song blaring on the radios before 9/11. I loved the music and I never really thought anything about the lyrics until after 9/11 & the current world situation came about.

I've been tempted to request it during "Resurrection Sunday" at my local radio station. What are my chances of getting it played on the radio?

Not that it makes any difference, but the song was referencing "The Stranger," by Albert Camus.

    It's probably more of an issue in France. . . . .

never heard that song. interesting and ironic. i guess these days there is an increasing chance that existentialists will have an arab pointing a gun at them. i wonder how many will stay true to their creed when the tables are turned? would camus relate to a suicide bomber?

    Standing on the beach
With a gun in my hand
    Staring at the sea
    Staring at the sand
    Staring down the barrel
At the arab on the ground
I can see his open mouth
    But I hear no sound
    I'm alive
    I'm dead
    I'm the stranger
    Killing an arab

    I can turn
    And walk away
Or I can fire the gun
    Staring at the sky
    Staring at the sun
    Whichever I chose
    It amounts to the same
    Absolutely nothing

    I'm alive
    I'm dead
    I'm the stranger
    Killing an arab

I feel the steel butt jump
    Smooth in my hand
    Staring at the sea
    Staring at the sand
    Staring at myself
    Reflected in the eyes
Of the dead man on the beach
The dead man on the beach

    I'm alive
    I'm dead
    I'm the stranger
    Killing an arab

Oooh, great song if you put it in context of "The Stranger," otherwise it could be kind of bad. Now "Lullaby" is bad no matter what context you put it in!
