Has anyone altered a yj cage to fit in a fj40? Are the cages crap or will they actually protect you in the event of a rollover?

Do you really believe that a Jeep cage is a viable alternative to a solid aftermarket product??? Look at a MetalTech cage compared to a YJ cage and tell me which you would feel more comfortable protecting your life with.......Dont think Ive even heard of a Jeep guy relying upon a stock cage in roll over situations. Also as a general rule of thumb you always want to upgrade your cruiser, 99.9% of anything jeep will be a downgrade.

this is why I asked the question...

It is not something that I would even think about messing with....

If you do not want to invest in tube bending and welding tools I would go METALTECH and be done with it.

Welcome-

For what it would take to modify a jeep roll bar, there are several good aftermarket kits available.

Mark at Metal Tech (as already mentioned) Would be a great place to start.

What are your intentions with the rig? If it will be a hardcore crawler, or if you have some kiddo's out back, I would look at upgrading. For general daily driving the stock bar might be plenty for what you need.
