i think it's a real good idea.
i slightly scraped my 60 rear diff and it's been dripping ever since.

they're a good starting point for diff protection

heres something you could do to, if your bored and you got some free time...this is a 40 axle.. with 3/16" plate shave about 3/4" and blah blah

thats a 40 front axle im building to put under my bro's zuk, it only takes off about 3/4" but it makes a smooth surface to slide on, oh and its 1/4" plate too

freshly welded...



after grinding.... the fill plug was moved to the top... 1/4" steel plate, one 250 amp mig and a BIG hammer...



btw, this is my rear axle..

Once tack welded did you bolt or brace your link plates in casue of pulling or warpage due to welding??

are you talk'n bout the bubble for the ring gear?
in the first pic, the diff ring has the notches cut for a perfect fit on the cover.

or are you talk'n bout the bubbles around the edge of the cover?
