ToyotaMatt,
I'd like to come back to this now that I have the glow plug system squared away (new current sensor, new plugs and all put back together). I'm not sure I understand your last entry. But to recap, I can turn to each thing on the ignition switch and they function EXCEPT the Glow, which causes the engine to turn over like on Start. The ignition wiring, as the picture I sent shows, it is a FJ40 ignition wiring with only 4 wires. I should have the 5-wire one and I would buy it BUT on the other end of the of the white connector of the ignition wiring (where the green connector is), there are only four wires connecting. I need FIVE, right? Otherwise, it's not helpful to have an ignition wire with 5 wires to activate the GLOW on the ignition wiring if I don't have a wire that goes to the Glow Plugs (at least that's what I assume is missing from the four wire one). So not sure how to proceed from here--You show three red circled nonOEM wiring applications in that same photo but I have no idea what they do or if one of them should be the fifth wire. The system works as is, so I should probably leave well enough alone, but if I had a five-wire connector on the other side of the ignition wiring, I'd buy the right one.

ok

- so lets see here ........🤔

- the green OEM connector on your harness side looks well oem original
'

- all the age and time Dust and what ever all over looks un-disturbed for like a 2 decades or longer i would say

- However ?

- RED FLAG i just noticed now ?

- your Magnesium Alloy Ignition Barrel Receiver has a huge crack in it or is this some optical illusion ?

- i can then conclude you simply have the wrong / incorrect ignition lock key cylinder and need a NON-GLOW one instead right ?

- start with the obvious then look and hunt for the hidden and obscure

- this is the correct Ignition Key cylinder for a standard NON-GLOW 40 series with as LOCKING Column button set up like u have i can see

- however the CRACKED receiver should be replaced as well to could be a life safety issue if it were to come apart while u are driving etc ............?

- see , NO GLOW option , this is the 1st step in my opinion , when replacing it you will then explore the cracked reciever

- i have ONLY seen cracked and broken receivers in theft situations in my experiance .........

- we also have NOT ruled out a faulty 4 wire green plug elec. key switch yet either , they DO wear out and can cause all your symptoms as well

i hope this helps , it would be my personal approach as well , rule out and repair the obvious , confirm and verify the likely key switch also

Fit , Form , and Function .........

Thanks for the perspective. The "crack" that you see is just a combination of the seam from the mold where the whole ignition piece was cast plus the shadow created from the flash. Normally, the HJ47s came with an ignition barrel that had the GLOW option on it, so I would guess between that and the obvious wear it has that it's original. IF that's the case, then it seems like the wiring part was changed from the original five-wire set-up to the nonGlow ignition barrel four-wire one. That leaves it uexplained where the fifth wire connection (the current green one that should be white from your product picture example) went to or if the fifth wire is just hanging around in that area, capped off since it wasn't needed. I'll try to take a close look at that and see. If it's there, I think I'll replace the current four-wire one that works without the GLOW option with the five-wire one so I get it back to original. If I can't find it, I'll just leave it as is and not use the GLOW part on the ignition barrel since I can activate the plugs, anyway, with the key on "ON" position. I'll let you know if I find anything you might be interested in (and I'll order the five-wire one through you if I go that route.). Thanks for helping to think this through.

if u PM me your engine bay data ID plate

i just may be able to tell you if original PLANT A-11 GLOW or NON glow feature ?

there are 4# series Diesels without a GLOW Ign. lock or key switch set up for sure

i have Never seen a Hybrid like yours ?

there is 100% PO human involvement here this much i will say for certain

i like Teq long term history's mysteries lets solve yours ! :D
