What about the stock FJ40/FJ55 rear heater?

That was my first thought... Unfortunately they are too tall:frown:
Howdy! Have you checked on JC Whitney's? They used to carry a variety of generic heaters. I take it you can't use the stocker behind the seat in the original position? John

I don't know much about '55s, but could you not put a stock heater under the front seat and baffle it to blow backwards? It should fit under the front seats. Plumbing would be easier, too.:hmm:

I'm sure this will fit. A bit pricy, but you could search for another distributor. Click on "Interior Accessories" then "Heating & Air Conditioning" then "Compact Heater with Defrost".

bsevans, unfortunately, even if the BTB one would have worked, I'd set my Cruiser on fire and push it in front of an oncoming train before I buy a single bolt from them.:meh:

The heater they sell is a Vintage Air unit. I went to vintageair.com and found a local retailer and bought it from them for $80 less than BTB sells it for. I got newer improved version than the BTB unit, it is part number 506101 Mine is going in the stock location and not under the seat.
