ok, I'm going crazy here, I have the Owners Manual and FSM, and I can't find out how to disable the Auto_door lock when the truck gets put in gear.

OR how can I change it to unlock when it goes in park? ?

every time i need to get something out of the back, I forget to unlock doors... UGH...

HELP!!

Knockoff Techstream for ~$30 or pay the dealer to do this, believe they'll charge you about $70-$100.

Or find someone in the area that can help you. I'm in Dallas, otherwise I'd offer.

Is the Knockoff TS as good as the OEM? I found a hacked tough book with what is claimed the latest software. $40 vs $400 - is it worth it?

The auto locks and the steering column tilt were the first features I disabled when I got techstream running. Those changes alone were worth the cost of the software.

Try this, it has worked for me on a couple trucks. Timing matters.

Yes I am posting to an old thread, but it is in the FAQ and I have found/compiled information about programming the door locks not already posted in the FAQ. Hope others find it useful.

------------------------------------

You can select the following modes of the automatic locking and unlocking functions. The initial mode is mode 1.

Mode 1—Automatic locking operation linked to shift lever position
All doors are automatically locked when the shift lever is moved out of “P” position after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position and all the doors are closed.

Mode 2—Automatic locking operation linked to vehicle speed
All doors are automatically locked when the vehicle speed goes above about 20 km/h (12 mph).

Mode 3—Automatic unlocking operation linked to the ignition switch All doors are automatically unlocked when the driver’s door is opened within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position, or the key is removed.

Mode 4—Automatic unlocking operation linked to shift lever position All doors are automatically unlocked when the selector lever is moved to “P” position after the ignition switch is
turned to “ON” position.

SETTING FUNCTIONS

Do all of this within 10 seconds of inserting the key. Make sure to hold for exactly 5 seconds.

You can set the following functions by yourself. To set the mode 1 (the automatic locking operation linked to shift lever position):
1. Set the parking brake, close all doors and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Shift the selector lever into the “P” position.
3. Press the driver’s side power door lock switch on the front side for about 5 seconds, within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position.
4. The doors will be locked and unlocked to indicate that the function is set. To cancel the function, do the above operation again.

To set the mode 2 (the automatic locking operation linked to vehicle speed):
1. Set the parking brake, close all doors and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Shift the selector lever from the “P” into the “N” position.
3. Press the driver’s side power door lock switch on the front side for about 5 seconds, within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position.
4. The doors will be locked and unlocked to indicate that the function is set. To cancel the function, do the above operation again.

To set the mode 3 (the automatic unlocking operation linked to the ignition switch):
1. Set the parking brake, close all doors and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Shift the selector lever into the “P” into the “N” position.
3. Press the driver’s side power door lock switch on the rear side for about 5 seconds, within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position.
4. The doors will be locked and unlocked to indicate that the function is set. To cancel the function, do the above operation again.

To set the mode 4 (the automatic un-locking operation linked to shift lever position):
1. Set the parking brake, close all doors and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Shift the selector lever into the “P” position.
3. Press the driver’s side power door lock switch on the rear side for about 5 seconds, within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position.
4. The doors will be locked and unlocked to indicate that the function is set. To cancel the function, do the above operation again.

Thanks, I tried it, but it doesn't appear to work with my year LC.

Tried all four different modes, no response for any of them.

These instructions always seemed weird to me whenever I saw them.

"2. Shift the selector lever into the “P” position." - What position WOULD it be in? Neutral? How are you supposed to turn on the ignition without it being in P?

"Press the driver’s side power door lock switch on the rear side" - Do you mean press "UNLOCK" or press the switch DOWN?

I tried all of them, nothing works.

Looks like I am buying software.

Assuming that you have a laptop or (windows) tablet, you should be just fine with the cable & software (@$15-30)

Mini VCI cable with TechStream

TIS Techstream diagnostic tool ...
How to run Techstream on a Mac

Would you opt for buying this or just the cable?

$15-30 vs $400.

Without the specs of the laptop, the CF-19 could be anything from an antique C2D to a more modern i5. I really don't see the benefit of buying what could be a really old laptop and paying a premium because of the decals on the outside, and the software that is preloaded.

I have a number of spare laptops floating around, and had no issues loading the software. My current TechStream device is an older Dell Venue Tablet. Then again, fiddling around with a computer is very much within my comfort zone.

I see what you mean. I quoted the first thread that jogged my memory from when I've done it. The method is out there, I know I must have found it. Then again, TS is handy.

I followed the instructions in the manual but you have to be EXACT with your timing. Worked on my 04 LC – now it unlocks when put in park.

Ok, so explain it to me in English then.

If I get in my truck and put ebrake on, it's 99% likely I'm in P.

How do I put the truck in P as the instructions indicate?

This is exactly what I did, took a few tries to get the timing right. The instructions aren't super clear, I know. If I recall correctly, I started with the car in park, then turned ignition to on and started the procedure below:

1. Close all doors and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Shift the selector lever to the “P” position.
3. Within 10 seconds of turning the ignition switch to the “ON” position, press and hold the driver’s side power door lock switch in the lock position for 5 seconds and then release. The doors will be locked and unlocked to indicate that the function is set.

To cancel the function, do the above operation again."

Good luck.

Just did this, can confirm it works on 03 LX470
