Darwin Award is on the way to me. I poured some power steering fluid in the power steering reservoir without reading the ENGLISH on the cap. Do ATF and power steering fluid play well together?

your not the 1st to do that :)

no worries, I have used PS fluid for many years without issue

I thought ATF was the recommended fluid to use.

As landpimp has so gently pointed out...you're correct. I did not read the top of the cap before mixing the existing ATF with power steering fluid.

Oh yes... I misread your original thread.

BTW, you have to die in order to be a candidate for the Darwin Award... you're still alive ain't you? :D

PS fluid and ATF are almost identicle, I believe the ATF has more detergents in it. Several manufacturers list ATF as the recommended fluid for the PS system. Don't use it in a Honda, though.

Mine is running ATF in the PS system.

My PS resevoir currently has a mix of PS and ATF. No issues. Don't sweat it.

easy to purge if you are concerned, and probably a good thing for the system too in any case if you haven't done it recently

I use PS, it's fine.

Yay beer,
Nick
