I've got a coworker with an '87 FJ60 that needs to replace the transmission. The one that's in it has damage to the outer case and some internal issues as well. Does anyone out there have a spare they've been hanging onto or haven't been able to get rid of? It's ok if it's the stock 4 speed.
 
I have an '87 H42 I would like to part with, but will need it until I have a spare $2.5k or an H55 lands in my lap
 
This guy might be willing to park his cruiser for a while while he waits for the transmission to become available. How much would you want for it?

Right now, too much since I need it....but if I come upon an H55, I would let it go for cheap ~$100.


I somewhat regret not buying the H55 DanS had up for sale last year, but it was something I wanted for my build not needed.

H55 is a NEED.....I don't think anyone ever said to himself "gosh, I don't really need that fifth gear"...dude, REALLY?
 
Let me know when you get the 5 speed. They guy may still have the truck. Does someone here have a need for an '87 FJ60 with a dead cylinder and a bad transmission?

No kidding! with 33" tires, 4.11 gearing, and only 4 gears, I will have to cruise the freeway at 3100 RPM just to keep it at 75mph, and I will have to nearly take it to the 4500 RPM redline to crack over the ton (100mph)
 
Sounds like you just need to rip it out right now and get the 5 speed.

It is that mind set that made a drive-able 40, a 8+ year poject
 
I got an H42 from Benos 87 he parted out a few years back, swapping in a new H55 next weekend. $50 if you want it. I'll be close to you on the 7th of October ( Amarillo)

Might be interested in the dead 60, got pictures?
 
I will talk to the owner about your offer to sell your H42 or buy his LC.
 
If that doesn't work out, I've got a late model H42 that I'll part with. I might even have two. (seriously)

Not entirely sure when I will be in town, but Dad will be around a bit and he knows where they are (they are in the way on the east side of the shop, so really easy to find! :) )

Or the lower 1st gear. It's both a 5th speed AND a lower 1st gear.

Win-Win-Win. (that's a win for the lower first, a win for the 5th, and a win because you'll love it)

Thanks for the offer Dan. I've got a line on one local right now. We'll see if the guy I'm helping follows through with it.
