Looking to buy a cheap Toyota for my son. I don't care about mileage or working A/C, I'd prefer 4-cylinder (no 3.0 v6s!) and a manual trans. Car, truck, whatever. Max $1600 (less is better). Whatcha got?

FWIW, I had several Geo Prizms back in the day. For a while, they were Toyota Corollas underneath. They are cheap and solid.
Best car I ever had was a '90 prism 4 door. Ran great, great mileage, cheap parts and easy to fix, if it ever broke.
I think they stopped being Corollas at some point and starting being, well, Chevys. . .
