Is it time for another wrench day?

I could use some help with my rig. I have a gas leak that spills gas off the top of the tank if I fill it completely. If anyone has ever dropped one of these tanks, I would rather do it at a wrench day than pay a mechanic.

Long shot, but anyone with a hydraulic lift and tools up for installing an OME suspension lift on a Friday? Would have to do on a Friday as I will need to get an alignment and VSC recalibrated before driving any distance. Thinking I could set an appointment up on Saturday at Universal for this and just stay over night in SA.

Should have the lift tomorrow, but am thinking of waiting to do the install after I decide what front bumper to go with. That way, only have to do the alignment once.

I'm up for a wrench day. I need to swap my alternator pulley and do a brake flush then set the LSPV properly using a gauge.

Bloomer I'm willing to give the 100 suspension a shot. The rears will be easy but the fronts with rekeying torsion bars gives me a little pause. It seems tricky. I don't know anyone with a lift but we have plenty of tall jacks and stands.

Bart - I need to do the same re: brake flush and LSPV. I have a Power Bleeder. Let's identify a weekend in October and I can host or you can host and put out a general invite for others to join with their tasks as well.

Sounds good.

Id like to make this a family day type thing too and do some kind of social time afterwards. Evening weather is turning nice and it'd be nice to get everyone together outside of Panera and maybe set some trip/run dates and discuss how to grow/improve the club.

Which day

I'd be up for some wrenching. I need some new U-Joints on my 80 and would love some experienced hands to help. Find a date and I'll try to make it.

Wrench day

I could use a brake fluid change too, also have a starting issue on the 62 I would like to chase. How does October 12th sound? Might be able to host but I do not have air.

Couldn't wait....installed the OME shocks, OME t-bars, and Slee diff drop today. Got late so I haven't finalized the ride height and droop yet. Also need to install the rear shocks and springs. Very doable project if anyone is on the fence. Slee's instructions are great.

Was very impressed with the diff drop kit; much more stout than factory diff cross member. Was a little disappointed in the OME shocks, but only in the upper cover is plastic. Just figured they would've been metal. Otherwise, seem like they'll work out good.

Still interested in the wrench day, though. Would be cool to hang out and bet I can find some PM to do, and of course help out.

Oct 12

Oct 12th could work, but I can't committ until I know my son's football and daughters soccer schedule for that day. THe rain last Friday monkeyed up the YMCA schedules. Should know something soon. I have a small 3 gallon pancake air compressor, but it's crap for running tools. Only good for cleaning out stuff and airing up tires.

I will check on my availability on 10/12 as well. If I am free, I could host. We could consider adjourning after that to either Rudy's, Willies or Mi Casa Tamales for Dinner (late afternoon / early evening) - and make it family friendly. Willies and Mi Casa have play areas and outdoor seating.

This would be in the Leon Springs area for those who did not come the wrenching day I hosted last time. If that is too far, we are open to other venues for wrench day - if someone more centrally located wants to host - let us know.

12th works for me also.

I'm at OConner/I35 on the northeast side if it's more convenient for the group.

Excellent - 2 options. Let's do this, if you know you are likely to attend, let us know which is more convenient for you. We want to pick the location that maximizes attendance and is convenient for the majority.

My location would be at IH 10 and Ralph Fair Road (Leon Springs) - hopefully the following Mapquest links work:

Bart just down the road from OConner/I35 (NE Side) as follows:

I should be able to make the 12th as well, and I'm over close to Bart. Happy to just help out with other folks' rigs, or if we need projects, my 80's got a list longer than my...arm...of stuff that needs done. Some projects I can bring:

  • Fixing the parking brake
  • Rebalancing brakes
  • Installing Slee front spacers
  • Servicing the rear hubs
  • Removing fender flares
  • Replacing front main, oil pump, and valve cover seals

At this point, my goal is to keep the 1FZ-FE running long enough for me to source, rebuild, and figure out how to mount an Isuzu 4BD1T, so I'm not gonna go crazy on replacing stuff on the current engine. So long as oil more or less stays in it and more or less stays where it's supposed to be, I'm good with it.

I'm going to try and make it. Either location works for me. Will we still have the normally scheduled monthly meeting, or does the wrench day take its place?

Still have the meeting then the wrench day is a bonus

Either location works for me. I still need help with tightening the fan belt thingie.

Wrench day

Either location will work but Leon Springs is my choice. Will someone havE a power bleeder for brakes?

James has a Motive power bleeder and I'm ordering a gauge from Summit to properly set the 80 series LSPVs using the FSM
