Holy crap, my first "first day of school" in the transportation dept.

Parents calling in TODAY to ask when the first day of school is

Parents calling TODAY and are mad when their child doesnt have bus information, but yet they didnt register them when they were supposed to, over a week ago

Or how about the guy today who called wondering why his daughter wasnt picked up, at her new address after he registered at her old address, in town instead of in the country, over a week ago

And the mom that was pissed because the driver didnt let her child off at a stop, that wasnt at his house, when the babysitter couldnt remember the child's name  So our rule is, take him back to the school. Mom chewed me up one side and down the other for being cautious  Even though her kid was completely safe and we knew where he was the whole time.

Add on top of that about 5 kids that got "lost" from getting on the wrong bus, refusing to get off at their stop, or parents failing to register and get the right information... and it becomes quite wild :D

Well, you don't have to be smart to have kids. . . . that's how some of them got kids in the first place. . . . .

My wife works in the elementary school office and is still tying up loose ends to try to prevent this stuff from happening on Thursday. Some parents are clueless and take little effort in their kids educations. Crazy.

I think there is no way to prevent it, you just have to cut down the cases as low as you can.

We at the transport dept have our own database that we use to get every student who rides a bus and is 3rd grade on down gets a colour coded wrist band to get them to where they go for the first week. That cuts down the vast majority, but nothing like stupid people to destroy the curve.

My daughter(blind) uses a private transport for school and you would have thought it was rocket science when the van comes around, We are the first pick-up and the last drop off, But it is amazing how some parents react when the van is 5 min. late let alone if the parents arent even home when the child is dropped off, or not if they arent there. Luckily we have a good communication with the driver over the last 2 years, But some parents either dont take the time or just dont care what is going on.
You have a tough job, no doubt

LOL, its one thing if they call and say "I ****ed up and didnt register my kid", its another thing when their unregistered kids gets on the wrong bus because of a change in information that puts them on the wrong bus  and its our fault.

My mom has worked for a school district for many, many years. Fortunately she works in the tech department now, but when I was growing up she was a secretary in a school and she dealt with a TON of crap like this. It didn't help that her school was in the bad part of town, but there were always a ton of parents that didn't know what was going on. In her school there were a ton that were too stoned to know what was going on. Hell, one time she found a guy who was on Kansas's most wanted list and got him arrested and got a letter from the governor.

Come on, Stink...you've worked with the general public before....

Tell me you never had policyholders call in because they didn't want their coverage to "collapse"...

    Tell me...

I generally agree with the rant....I never cease to be amazed......

my bus ride was usually about 1 hour and 10 minutes long so if we were a few minutes late it didn't matter.

Its one thing when the general public is stupid over insurance, or produce or whatever... But this has to do with their kids and their kids safety.
