i have never seen this exact style hand throttle before ?

and when Delivered to my shop today , i became puzzled after further

examination etc ...........

i have archived dozens of examples from 60's and 62' s

but this one has notable differences , the truck WAS LHD .............

Looks stock to me. Looks exactly like the one that was in my '81 BJ60 I had many years ago. And my current '87 HJ60.

did these come as a factory build sheet Option , Dealer installed assy , or as

Standard equipment on a 8/80- 9/87 CANADA SPEC. BJ60 ?



- also, does your BJ60 and or HJ60 have another devise , like a Fast Idle

twist lock / pull / push smaller control cable of some kind , it may have a

ENGINE LOGO on it Like this :

I'm pretty sure all CDN spec diesels had the hand throttle as standard equipment, both BJ and HJ. To keep the idle high, you pull out the knob (which is attached to the gas pedal), and turn it to the right to hold it in position. Then, turn left to release. Helps with engine warm-up on cold days. Probably part of a cold weather package, along with the retractable cover for the radiator, which is behind the grille.

But I have never seen the one pictured above with the engine logo on it.

Also standard to FJ62, that is the exact same unit that I pulled from a USA 1989 FJ62.

Toyota fitted ( Throttle) those on diesels even without PTO specs.
My HJ60 has it although there is no PTO .

You might need higher revs to raise the alternator output when you choose the factory electric aisin winch as a option.

I have two canadian 84 bj 60 and they both have the hand throttle. So did two others ive been in. Says throttle onnit.
