well maybe not ever but its pretty bad,
so I drop the pan to finally get rid of the non stop leaking and brought it in to get blasted so I could finally see what was under the 25 years of rust and gunk.
this is what it looks like now

(1987 HJ60 oil pan)

How do I fix this?
Is it trashed?
I also don't know how to weld at all.

I'd start with a new one or at best, a better used one.

What would worry me more is what caused those holes.

I assume the 20 yrs in the nova scotia sea side had something to do with the holes, what else could it be?

That's about it, years of seaside parking and salt in the air. Also roads there are salted in the winter.

The Swiss Cheese oil pan is coming back into style I heard. Nothing a mig welder can't fix.

That thing was barely leaking!

If you have to fix it rather than replacing it there is a handy trick for welding holes closed. Find a piece of copper sheet and hold it over the hole on the backside. Can weld at the edge of the hole out onto the copper, and the weld won't stick to the copper. It will get warm, so be prepared for that....

Didn't have any luck fixing my rusted out 3B pan so I just made a new one out of 1/8 plate and angle iron.

Check this write up for how I made it. The Wagon Way
