Some prior owner was apparently very sensitive to fan speed because they just obliterated the fan speed button. It's worn through to some other color and is a bit unsightly. Dealer says not available, at least as an individual button. I could paint it but matching the color and sheen wouldn't be easy, and it probably wouldn't last long. Anybody else had to deal with this?

Search the 80's series forum. I seem to remember that there was a guy there that had a method for making new button overlays......

That is the color of the plastic for the button, then they cover it with a sticker (overlay) that has the cutouts for the symbol for what the button does.
So you need to do it re-cover or replace it.
A fabric paint pen might work pretty well.

Yes. Buy a small brother brand label maker and play with the fonts to make a decal for it. You can buy black label maker for it with white font. “FAN”.
