Wobbly, sloppy H41 shifter? (1 Viewer)

So in the past few months, I have noticed increasing wobble or slop in the shift lever on my H41 4 speed tranny. It now
feels really loose and like the detents for the gears 1st through 4th are extremely vague. Transmission doesn't necessarily
feel any worse, no excess noise or vibrations, just the sloppy shifter. Any ideas what it might be and how I go about curing it??

The shifter is fully seated and locked into place... right?

push the silver "cup" down and twist counter clockwise, to lock in place.

push the silver "cup" down and twist clockwise, about 1/4 turn, to remove.

Yep, it is tight and locked in place in the seat. Is there something in the cover that could come out of adjustment
or wear out?? I have read about some pins, but can't see how they could effect overall sloppiness??
