Need help with wiring my head lights. Did an FJ62 to a FJ60 front end conversion, have the lights working but can get the high beams to work. Anybody break the code.

Thanks

I think the wiring should not have to be changed. Just make sure your Low beams plug , not the high beam is being plugged into the new round headlights.

The low beams on the fj62 also had highs , so should work the same.

I think this is God's way of saying you should not mess with square headlights. He made them that way for a reason.

and 62>60. It's simple math.

Don't go barking up that tree man. It'll get messy in here.

i have a 62, but i would consider my self somewhat open minded. I have to admit I really like the round headlights. Maby it is the fact that i came from jeep land and my jeep has round headlights.

MHTARSTON, I do remember seeing a thread a long time ago about a guy who did just this. I dont remeber there being to much info as far as wiring goes. But there were lots of good pics. I would think the FSM wiring diagrams for a 60 and 62 could be obtained and then you might be able to make an educated guess as to which wire you need to cut and splice...

I am a little intrested in the sheetmetal side of the conversion.
What parts did you source and which parts on the 62 could not be retained?

got pics?
cheers

The sheet metal switch is a piece of cake. Remove a either fender the Radiator support then replace support with new FJ60 and attach all necessary lights and plastics. I've now done this twice due to a wreck I had in the front quarter. Here are some before and after pics and the wreck. Did the paint, cleaned and a ton of engine work too.

Search using my username and you'll find my write-up. It was a long time ago and I have a short memory. IIRC we matched up the wires by color codes but had something odd at the end and connected two very different colored wires together since they were all that was left. Wired it up with fuses at the ready but it was fine, even the bright indicator on the dash.

Let mw welcome another round eye 62 to the pack!

X2! :grinpimp:

You buttholes. You're just *angered* you have an auto and windows that don't always work, so you have to rag on us to make yourselves feel better :flipoff2:

Sheetmetal is a piece of cake swap. I support it!

Hey our windows work! You just have to allow a half hour or so per window...

At first I wanted to swap the 60 front on my 62 but I'm really diggin' the rectangular lights now!! What's the 60 front end cost roughly??

Depends on what part of the country you're in and how many 60's are being parted. I think I spent about $150 for the parts but 60's are plentiful in Colorado.

This tread has become very funny. Thanks for the info, I'm going to try and fix this problem this weekend. Failed inspection, need it fixed.

Love my 62>60:flipoff2:

I enjoy the power window adventure. Especially if my Great Dane farts.

I do love the EFI though, hate that auto.
