Hi guys,

Having trouble replacing my quarter window rubbers. Does everyone generally remove the entire window (1/4) first?

I've tried looking it up on all different searches on this site and it's almost like no ones done it before! Spent two hours pushing, pulling and trying to get the rubber into the channels and all ive got so far is sore fingers and half a job!

Yeah I've read about the soap/ wd40 trick which I'll try more tomorrow (dark right now) but is there any special tool I need or just take out the glass and take a long lick of patience out and see how I go?

It's a 79 model if that helps at all

I've always done it with the window out... Not tried it with it in.

I replaced my wing window rubbers yesterday. I don't see how you can do it with the glass in. My technique, to keep the seals from pulling away from the corners (leaks), was to start in the corners and work towards the center. I used $OR rubbers as I was only able to source one L OEM rubber. Let me know if you need help or pics.

Tom, do you know that your thread is "closed" (by Poser) just like the other one about glow plugs?

I suspect ih8mud is having problems caused by lack of data storage space (because, for instance, for the last few days page-loading has been incredibly slow on this site for me).

Woody has apparently introduced new policy to lock up any thread that hasn't had any fresh postings in 6 months.

I suspect that this "locking up" is just the first step and that once another time-period has elapsed such threads will be automatically dumped altogether.

PS. My middle sentence is the only thing factual here. The rest is just conjecture.

PPS. If I'm right, it will be a shame considering all the effort that went into creating such threads. But on the other hand I find some of what I've written in the past to be embarrassing so it'll be nice to see that disappear. :meh:

I don't think that Woody is going to dump threads. Remember when we had the "edit" button disapeared? Woody did that because he was pissed of over some people who removed pictures and whole threads. He wanted to save them.

About the loading speed.... as long as a thread has the regular tree pictures per posting it's not too bad. When a thread has a row of pictures from photobucket (like mine about the clusters) or an other storage medium then the download speed drops significant.

Anyway, I'm going to find out why threads are being closed.

Rudi

Thx for the advise, pulled the window out (had to drill the rivet out on top) and managed to get it fitted, wouldn't call it the prettiest girl at the dance but it's new and done.

Onto the electrics....
