The windshield wipers worked the first time I bought this truck, 1980 BJ40, and then they died. I have constant power at the wiper motor. The motor works because I used the constant power and jumped the motor via alligator clips. There is power on both sides of the fuse panel. Continuity on all positions of the wiper switch. Yes this is 24 volt system. My question is: does the wiper motor switch just switch grounds to change speeds? And has anybody else had similar problems? My best guess is a bad ground but I just can't wrap my head around this common ground setup.

Any tips would be great!!!
 
Yes the wiper motor has + going to it, the speed and park are done thru the switch using the -
