Rock smashed my windshield within first 1,000 miles after buying :censor:

Looking into replacements. Found an OEM that is $10 cheaper than a new. Anyone know if the OEM is thicker/stronger glass? I assume so but am curious.

Thanks!

It's not just the windshield, it's how to install it. 100 series have a specific way of installing the side mouldings using rivets, most hackjobs they use screws and rust everything up. Also make sure they don't scrape the top of the roof and chip the paint, that'll cause rusting later on too.

If you have glass coverage fight for OEM only. Aftermarket is a bit of a gamble and the windshield labor itself is the critical part of the equation. MUST use rivets from Toyota and remediate any existing rust from previous hack jobs.

OEM glass isn't the end of the world, but I'd get it if your insurance and/or wallet can handle it.

Worth repeating ten times. Screws are never ok for a 100 windshield install.
