So I was suffering the typical slow window syndrome for a while. I picked up all new window runs and trim pieces (both the internal and external) from @Akella. Now my windows move even slower and the drivers side just got pulled out of the regulator. It feels like there is much more "gripping" pressure being exerted on the windows by the internal and external trim pieces.

The only reason that I can come up with for this, is that the external trim pieces are now sitting on top of a layer of Monstaliner, possibly causing the exterior trim to lever inwards onto the window harder than intended. I installed the new runs as I was reassembling the truck after lining it. Does this sound like a likely cause? has anyone else run into this issue before?

The cause is what you suspect OR I think you might not have the runs fully seated into the grooves. I know that i struggled for a while before i got the rubber to seat correctly. It was quite a job but glad I did it. It made a HUGE difference !

Sorry to hear you got so much trouble. Make sure your window runs are fully in into the door channels, because if it is not fully in, it may cause extra tension on the glass. In addition, check your inner trim for the proper fitment between the metal part of the door and the glass. When I did mine, it took me extra time to get it properly seated. I hope it helps!

I am going to pull it all apart and first determine if the runs are properly seated. If they are, I will look at the outer trim. Thx

I was actually going to do a search on this topic so I'm glad I saw this.

Is it common for the windows move like a slug I have had my 80 now less then a year and have done a few mods I want to take care of some basic items and I did figure the truck is 20 years old so maybe if I changes the motors they will operate faster

any thoughts appreciated

Replacing the window runs makes a huge difference. Also, search cleaning window switch contacts. They get corroded and don't allow proper voltage (or is it amps).

I did mine and it made a huge difference, especially when cold.
Silicone spray is your friend.
I did mine without removing any panels or anything.
It really helps if you've done the power window relay bypass so your switches are hot all the time.
I also did the felts at the top of the inner panel (front only) and all the door belt mouldings at a different time. Those were very easy as well.

Should be able to swap the trim by just opening the window and sliding them in and out. I know i just cut 3-4 " of the ends . And no it doesnt rattle.

My new runs only helped a little. Gonna try new motors eventually.
