winch question

Yes and in most cases yes. Get a snatch block for those times you need a little more pull. I ended up getting the 12.5K and a snatch block as a personal preference since I was laying down the money and did not want to worry if I had enough. I know lots of people who run the 9500 and have no issues, but I was able to find it for just under a grand. If I hadn't been able to, I would have gone with the smaller winch.

Thick mud up to the axles or extreme rock crawling up steep river beds (like in the PAC NW) would overload the 9.5. Most guys get a 12K winch. My truck minimally loaded for camping with my family is 6000 lbs. Its a good plan to have a winch that can pull twice the weight of your truck on a single line pull.

Cheers.
