Well, here I am just finished putting my power steering on and then I go to start my 40 .... When I turn the key to the start position the engine will run like a bastard but when I let the key go to the run position on the tumbler the engine will die. I have replace the ignition switch and it didn't help.

Or a bad wire or connection between the ignition switch and the ballast resistor.

Along those same lines: no 'run' power to the ignition switch. In the 'start' position, the coil is fed directly from the starter so it starts, but won't keep running.

One way or another, you're not getting power to your coil.

thanks guys , I will get in to that thing tomorrow, going to napa for the day with the little misses. I'll let you know what it was hopefuly tomorrow.
