A few questions from someone wanting to add a turbo.
First question: what turbo is this?
Second question: will it work/fit with an H (not 2H) engine without much trouble?

I haven't even got the H engine yet, but there is one near me going cheap, and my 2F needs that much work that it could be a good excuse to change over.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what it is. Other than a toyota. What does the inlet look like on the exhaust side?

Dual or single inlet.

It could be off a MR2, celica, supra or something else. Maybe a diesel too.

Where did you find it?

If you brought it to a turbo shop maybe they could spec it out for you. Only then would you know. Also you need to map out what requirements you need a turbo for a 2H.

Or H.

might be a great turbo for your engine.

welcome to the board, where are ya? Adding your location to your id helps for responses. As people will know what is available in certain districts.

Thanks Brownbear,

I'm from Melbourne, bought a 1978 fj40 in original condition, but with a 2F engine with unknown k's or history. I have only had it 2 weeks, trying to get it road worthy (bought it without one taking a gamble.)

Turns out it needs much more work than I thought, like a reconditioned head. I thought I might chuck the money instead into a cheap diesel (there is an H on ebay that looks alright for AU$600). Just happened to stumble onto that turbo on ebay aswell. Only other info I know from emailing the owner is that it is marked with a
[FONT=Arial, Verdana]"2yb" on part of the manifold. The owner was sold it to put on his Holden Rodeo.

I know not much about motors, and bought the FJ40 because it seemed a good place to start. I have a reconditioned head sitting next to me, but swapping them seems too advanced for me.

Thanks for your help.

IMO you would be better off getting the head installed and get the 2F running even if you have to pay someone.
At least you will have it on the road and be able to get some use out of it.
Just be aware that putting a good head on an old motor can cause blowby with the increased compression.
If you want to do a diesel swap in oz there is a whole swag of diesels that would be better than a H.
A H diesel from ebay has trouble written all over it if you cant see it running or there are no guarantees on the compression/condition.

These things take time and money if you want them to turn out right.
An engine swap will be harder for a newbie than a cyl head installation;)

Please place something like a dollar to figure about dimensions of the tubro .. it looks like a T3 in size .. but don't recognice this exhaust outlet.

Anycase for your H engine something like ar.48 it's fine for your aplication.
