It appears a debate around something other than the OPs question about color has started.
Personally, as an Army Veteran—I think the Toyota “Army green” color is HIDEOUS. I’d never buy a green vehicle.
Perhaps that is because I looked at shades of flat green, flat tan, and various patterns of such for 20 yrs, lol.
My favorite car colors are silver, white, medium gray—which happen to be the colors of every vehicle in our family.
From a resale standpoint, apparently those colors do quite well if resale is a true concern.
Yeah I think I got my answer a while ago (basically it'll probably effect value, but not that much if done professionally) and then it kinda morphed into debating the current value. My buddy just bought a brand new Tacoma with the factory flat grey and blacked out TRD package, it looks badass, which got me thinkin about something like that. The current color of my TLC is silver, which I think looks really good with blacked out chrome and black TRD wheels, so I might just stick with that. But since I actually intend to take it offroad, I'd really like something to protect the fancy paint job from branches and crap (PNW here, lots of overgrown trails, branches, bushes, etc.) That flat grey vinyl could be cool too.
As long as I can be assured the vinyl is reversible without damaging the paint (maybe a ceramic coating would help), I'll probably end up going that route.
