anybody knows if the box/pallet that the 80 ARB winch bull bar comes in will actually fit in the back of the 80 with seats removed?
if so, with door closed or not?

thanks

Mine fit. ;p

Come on, if Erics_Bruiser could fit one in his 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback during a winter snowstorm and drive hundreds of miles with the hatch bungeed closed, you should be able to figure something out ;) :grinpimp:

I know, but it was in the back of a 2 door civic hatchback! If e9999 can't get the bar home, he is a :princess:

:) :)

Eric,

Informationally, I planned on taking mine out of the box and strapping it to the roof of the 80 (Thule towers/bars). Could you do this?

I also considered actually installing it and driving home with the factory bumper on the roof, but a lot can go awry in a parking lot install..

Oh - also agree his genetics are in question if he can't do this with an 80...

I got mine in the back still in the box. I had to fold down the middle row and remove the third because of the angles. I hate driving with the seats folded down. The leather squeaking drives me nuts

Do you mean the 2nd row folded up? I place a blanket between the 1st and 2nd row leather seats for that very reason.

Towel is sufficient. :D

Why not remove the box?

put it on there...

take off your stock one before you pick up ( well, if it's local i guess)... bolt up the arb when ya pick it up...arbs go on easy enough right??

Texus is right...remove the stocker at home and toss on the ARB at the delivery point....slipping it onto the frame horn and dropping in two bolts to hold it will be easy....finish up the install at home. (remove the bumper AND the tow hooks)

I didn't try to fit mine in the truck with the box, just left it wrapped up and angled it in the back. Delivering Shreg's this coming weekend, it'll pile in there the same way...

another good idea! its 4 simple bolts

Eric - if you want to close the back you're gonna have to remove the second row completely and take it out of the box. It will fit at an angle that way - I had to do this to pick mine up from Dallas when I bought it. And for all you guys "put it on" suggestions - mine wouldn't go over the frame horns from a PO's accident, had to get a frame shop to square them up

And for Doug - I donno how the hell you're gonna get that sucker up that high, lifting it waist high is one thing ... roof height is something else entirely.

all right, so it seems possible to do it still in the box (unless there was some misunderstanding above), great!
Strange that some say they couldn't do it. The 80s don't come in different sizes, do they, or some folks just sizing-challenged? :)
Or maybe they have different size boxes?

thanks for all the good suggestions but I need to keep it in the box.

un-boxed, at an angle elevated over the folded second row. no way the box was going to fit. you could remove from the box and carefully break the cardboard down if you need to have the box later...

perhaps there have been different boxes used as evidenced by the variety of experiences posted.

putting it on the roof sounds like a not so good idea nor does trying to install it in the parking lot. iirc some folks have had trouble getting the horns to line up with the bumper without mechanical intervention.

I wouldn't put the bullbar on the roof rack using Thule or any other bars. It's too unwieldy, awkward and a bit heavy. You'd have to figure out how to stand above the roof and maneuver that SOB w/o denting your roof!

Conversely, I wouldn't try to stick it inside the 80 in the crate. I'm imagining the box being stuffed inside your 80 using a forktruck and you know it ain't gonna be a subtle lift and push!

I also wouldn't try to install it at the truck terminal. You'll look like a hoser and chances are you may need to do some persuasion with BFM (mallet) to get the thing to fit!

Take it out of the box, still wrapped in the packing foam and stick it inside the 100!

My wife brought mine home while I was out of town for work by placing just the bumper in the back of the Legacy wagon. The terminal boys disposed of the crating material for her.
