Will cable removal drain transfer case?

Hello all,

Trying to fix the flickering speedo cable issues. When going to remove it from transfer case, oil like (dark) fluid comes out where the cable meets the transfer case (not ATF). This won't cause a drastic drop in fluid level will it?

No, there is an o- ring on the drive. Just unscrew the cable and lube it up.

So if fluid was coming out...o-ring is most likely bad?
