I have not been able to figure this out clearly and I just want to be sure I am right. I have a PTO and wench from a 3 speed 71 fj40 and I want to use it on a 4 speed FJ40. It looks like it should work maybe just need to get a longer drive shaft for the wench or find some kind of extension. Am I right or an idoit? Thanks

What year four-speed transmission and transfer case assembly?

If it is pre 07/80, yes it will work provided: The transfer case has the PTO drive gear inside of it instead of the tube spacer which most floated over here with, the PTO drive shaft to the carrier bearing is lengthened to take up the difference in length between the three-speed and four-speed transmission, and you may also need to lengthen the PTO shifter link between the PTO gear box actuation lever and the shift lever mounted on the side of the four-speed transmission top cover.

:meh:

Yep, like Steve says, it should work PROVIDED the PTO gear is in the transfer and you lengthen the shaft and shifter and the four speed has the older single piece transfer case.

Post a picture of the wench, we've already seen lots of pictures of winches :)
