Will a 1976 FJ40 smog pump work on a 1982 FJ40 (needed just to use as a tensioner).

Not needed for smog requirement just need to know if it will bolt up the same.
Jim C's air pump eliminator kit are out of stock.

does your 1982 have power steering?
I rigged up an extra alternator to get by one time years ago to do the same thing

Yes it has OEM power steering and air conditioning

you wall find the pully diameters are different the early ones skinny the later ones phatter

Thanks Matt! This morning I had a mud member hook me up with a smog pump from a 1979 FJ40. Not sure of the differences but hoping it will work.

79-80 smog pump is shorter than the later 1981+
the PS pump bracket is also slightly different than then 1981+

I had a Jim C eliminator bracket for 1981+ 2F, I needed to shorten it, I can't remember by how much, to fit my 1980.
